We all know and love needlepoint brick covers, but our Finishing Department was blown away by this creative use of the classic format! This customer decided she would like her needlepoint brick to become a box cover. Finishing put together this clever little box for the base, which has a base that sticks out for easy removal. Our Elf on the Shelf was a collaboration between the Art and Finishing Departments, and was stitched by the talented educator, Hollie Axel. This poinsettia, sent to us by one of our customers, is a beautiful example of the effects specialty stitches can have on a project. Canvases with flat areas of color really benefit from specialty stitches, they can add fun patterns and a sense of dimension that are a subtle complement to the composition of the piece. This customer clearly has a great understanding of how to combine specialty stitches, with her skill she created a 3-D effect, giving an added depth to the 2-...D image. This coming holiday season our finishing team would like your needlepoint in their hands at least 8 weeks before you need your finished items returned to you. . Their production timeline does not include shipping time. Please factor in a little over a week for shipping (each way). So, for example, if you want your finished items by December 15th, we recommend that you slip your stitched canvases into the mailbox around October 6th. . You can do your part to help speed up the... process. Well-completed finishing forms make a world of difference to our team. The less clarification we need from you, the sooner we can get your project into production. (If you want to be extra kind to our intake team, they prefer single-sided, non-stapled paperwork.) . Remember: Every needlepointer and their mother has been stitching more these last five months. We are expecting an increased volume and are also working around the added strain to all shipping carriers. . This uniquely finished bench was a request from Joy, one of our customers, and we think it is an absolute stunner! . Joy asked our finishers to upholster the bench cushion with different sized needlepoints. She wanted to create a patchwork effect which we thought was a genius idea. . We love the way the different geometric colors flow together for such a kaleidoscopic visual effect. Check out this new technique the painters at Rittenhouse Needlepoint learned recently. Nothing is more exciting for them than getting a commission that requires a new style. They received a request for a piece based on a watercolor image so they had to make acrylic act like watercolor paint -- what fun! This close-up of the effect shows how they captured the transparency and fluidity of watercolors and now they have this new technique in their back pocket for use with future ...customers. This method works best in Technique One, and as for translating this painting technique into stitchwork use of variegated threads and light stitching is highly recommended.
