In our current society it is harder than ever to be present. It’s important to take time out of your day to be grateful for what you have now in the moment instead of worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet. Exercise, sleep, a proper diet, and breathing exercises are all things I prioritize each day to allow me to stay present. I will practice being present with all my patients by getting to know them on a personal level and understanding what they want to get out of therapy. Being present will instill a trust and confidence in my patients that can be vital to their success. Brad Pratzner, PT, DPT #pennmedx #BEPresent

"To be present for me is showing up, giving it 100% every day, even on days I don’t feel up to it. I am there for the people I love and care about. I never giving up on a task because I find it difficult but I step it up because I love a challenge. Being present to me is also helping others to the best of my ability no matter the circumstances. Since I am always present, people can depend on me and trust me." -Howard Ballard #pennmedx #BEPresent

"To me, being present means practicing mindfulness in the here and now. Grounding ourselves in moments when we notice our minds wandering to the past or future. Being present is vital to building relationships - especially when working in healthcare, where people often feel anxious and vulnerable. When someone shows up, provides a listening ear, gives appropriate eye contact, and creates a safe space without judgement, you feel that you are heard and validated. Being present in the moment does not waste time, it creates it!" -Jessica Hetrich, CTRS, CBIS #pennmedx #BEPresent

"Being present to me is the price ledge of caring for others; putting their needs/ progress in front of my own with the time I have to treat them. Nicole Lord Walsh BA,PTA, CBIS #pennmedx #BEPresent

Being present to me is making sure I am here to provide as much service to the patients as best I can. Throughout a day there are many distractions, I do my best to make sure I stay on task and tackle as much of my assignment as possible. -Jerald Dill #pennmedx #BEPresent

"Being present with others begins before I enter the room. It is imperative that I am practicing being present by removing all external forces and distractions. Once in the room, I allow myself to surrender to the emotions present, meet the individual/s where they are and allow my actions to convey that I am ‘here’ with them. My goal, before leaving the room, is to bring a sense of calm and peace in the midst of a difficult situation. It is my belief that no matter the circumstance, the act of being present can become an oasis for everyone involved and can result in others feeling heard, cared for and validated." -Tonnica Malcolm, MSW, LSW #pennmedx #BEPresent

"Being present for me is giving the patient or co-worker my undivided attention by looking them in the eyes and not being distracted by my cellphone or even by my own thoughts." Donna Boyd, BSN, RN #pennmedx #BEPresent
