Mental Monday: With a break in the cold weather, days like today are excellent times to take your dog for a walk! Want to tire them out faster?? A 20 minute work where the dog can sniff anything it wants as long as it wants is equal to an hour of steady paced walking. So let them sniff and enjoy the sunshine!!!

Mental Monday - Fun with a Blanket: For a simple indoor game to play with your dog take a blanket and lay it out flat. Scatter some treats or kibble on half of the blanket then fold the other half over top. Scatter more treats on half of the folded blanket then fold the blanket in half again. Repeat steps a couple more times. Place a treat just under an edge making it easy for dog to find it and let them have fun rooting around to find the rest.

Mental Monday - Winter has finally arrived with a vengeance. Between snow storms and subzero temps, it's hard to get dogs physical exercise so we would like to share some ways to give your dog mental exercise. Mental exercise will tire your dog out significantly faster than physical and can easily be done indoors. For the next several weeks we are going to be posting games we play with our dogs to give you some new ideas of things to try. Enjoy! Our first game is the Treasure Hunt. It can be done indoors or outside as in this picture. Simply toss a handful of treats around and let your dog search to find them! We used 3 cut up hotdogs and scattered them around in a 30' x 30' area for our three pups. It took them over 20 minutes to clear the area and now they are resting in the house!

It's a SNOW DAY!!! When it comes to winter weather here at Ruff World we will error on the side of caution when it comes to canceling classes. Today we certainly made the right decision as we have already got 3 inches and the snow is still falling. So just as when we were young and Snow Days were magical times, we were out having a blast playing in the snow this afternoon (with a little Obedience practice thrown in for picture taking ). Hope all of our students are able to find some fun in their Snow Day too!!!
