Last night a friend and I went to dinner at Saffron - an Indian restaurant with 2 locations on the Main Line - one in Wayne and the other in Bala Cynwyd. They a...lso have a third restaurant in Ambler. Last night we had dinner at the Wayne location which is near my Keller Williams Realty office in Wayne. First of all I love Saffron’s ample parking lot which is a big bonus for me!! The Restauant itself has lots of windows which makes it bright and cheery. It was so clean that you felt you could eat off the floor. We were greeted by the approachable owner Rahul Bhatia. I had met him last year at Main Line Today magazine’s best of party which they did not host this year because of Covid. My friend and I started with the Spinach Chaat. OMG! Fresh spinach leaves dipped in a chickpea batter lightly fried topped with potatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, mint and tamarind chutney. This was the first time having this dish and I loved loved loved it. I loved the crunch, the complex flavors. Clearly this showstopper should be on their permanent menu. Another winner last night was the Chicken Kaathi roll. Thin homemade Indian bread wrapped around charcoal grilled chicken with onions and tomatoes. Whatever blend of spices Saffron uses makes this dish so flavorful. I dipped this in a tamarind sauce. For my main course I had the Tandoori Shrimp Masala. I dare you to find a better Tiki Masala sauce. However Saffron prepares this dish was the best I had ever eaten. You can taste the freshness - it is what dreams are made of. I could eat a big vat of this dish over basmati rice right now just thinking about it. Even though I was full We had the homemade rice pudding with pistachios. I want to tell you what an excellent waiter Kunal Sharma was. A waiter can make or break your dining experience and he was perfect! #michellethehatladyleonard #MichelleEats #YourMainLineRealtor See more
