Dear Members and Supporters, The Board of Directors have met and we have made some decisions in response to the growing pandemic. We did not come to this decision lightly, but the health and safety of you and our community are the top priority. For February's Quarter Sheet Challenge we are featuring the work of Rosa Nussbaum in collaboration with Kevin Brophy. Good Brick Bad Brick Prints on paper: solarplate etching, relief print Fabric print: batik, copier litho, relief prints Rosa Nussbaum is a visual artist based in Philadelphia, PA and a current Fob Holder at Second State Press. Her work explores the place where the body touches the institution. Rosa holds an MFA in Studio Art: Transmedia from the University of ...Texas at Austin and a BFA from Wimbledon College of Arts, London, UK. Kevin Brophy is a language-based performance artist originally from Tampa FL. For her Quarter Sheet Challenge pair, Jae Eun Park exhibited two different prints in two different mediums. Her second one, Behind the window, is a linoleum print. Park explains, "I am interested in human behaviors and emotions. To be honest, I am interested in expressing my emotions that are provoked by internal or external circumstances. In order to visualize abstract... concepts, I often use figures and their gestures. For example, the depiction of senses and hands in action are used as metaphors to describe abstract concepts like the passing of rumor and knowledge, desire, greed, craving, power distribution, attachment, and discrimination. Making art to me is like how children pretend play.
