Staff pet pic for Puppy Tax. Seven Fields Veterinary Hospital is aware of the recent news story involving Seresto collars. We would like you to know that we do not take any of these reports lightly and we are monitoring the situation and updates closely. At this time, more information is needed to properly understand and evaluate the situation in order to determine the risk level. ... Unfortunately, cancer is a prevalent disease amongst our pets and there are many contributing factors and causation is not clear from this article. Certain key elements remain unanswered from the report including age, breed, type of cancer and even authenticity or appropriate use of the product. Many healthy patients of this hospital wear Seresto collars and do not develop illness. The only occasional side effect we have seen involves topical skin reactions which are attributable to the plastic/rubber material of the collar. This material in any form of collar is not ‘breathable’ and will sometimes cause irritation or hot spot formation. As with any medication or flea and tick product for your pet, it is important to be sure you are getting a genuine product. Some of these products including Seresto have been counterfeited and may contain ingredients that do not work well, or ingredients that could be harmful. Purchasing products from a trusted source such as your veterinarian will help prevent use of fraudulent products.

For the safety of our clients and, more importantly, our healthcare team, we have made the decision to go back to strictly curbside service, due to the surge in COVID cases in our area. With the exception of critical and end-of-life appointments, our lobby will be closed to pet owners and guests until further notice. When you arrive at the office, please call 724-742-4433 to check in for your pet's appointment or to get assistance from a team member. Thank you for your patience.
