It’s Lite Up Nightlitened up! Santa’s elves have been hard at work putting together a holiday celebration for all to safely enjoy! This outdoor only event will be held Saturday November 21 from 4-8 PM in the parking lots between Shaler North Hills Library and SASD Middle School. Please wear your face coverings and maintain your distance from other family groups! ... This year we have two ice skating rinks to minimize lines and crowd sizes as always skates are available at no charge Santa will be parading down Mt. Royal Blvd with his cast of characters and lighting the Christmas Tree at 5 PM. To keep him ready for Christmas, he won’t be able to visit with everyone, but kids will still be able to take their photos with him at Santa’s Workshop (from 6 feet away). This year, we are encouraging kids (big and small) to write a letter to Santa and leave it in our special mailbox, so he’ll know exactly what’s on your wish list! Not sure what to write? Visit our website for a handy letter template to help you get started. Other activities include a Holiday Scavenger Hunt, magic shows with Weird Eric, and dance parties with Miss Ing! School groups and vendors will be selling refreshments, and Shaler North Hills Library will be selling s’mores to be roasted over fire pits. We know things are different and it won’t be like a normal Lite Up Night, but we are looking forward to kicking off the Holiday Season and we hope to see you there! If you aren’t comfortable with attending this event, we understand and we hope to see you next year!

We welcome two new public works employees, Michael Tedesco and Michael Clanton, hired this evening at the Board of Commissioners meeting. Congratulations gentlemen! Just in time to learn their snow routes before the snow starts to fly - yes we said that bad word that starts with an S after a record high of 70 degrees on November 10th.

Trick or Treating is tomorrow night (10/31) from 6-8 PM*! Remember - if you choose to go out, limit the number of ghosts and goblins in your group, and be sure to follow CDC guidelines on mask wearing, and social distancing. The Shaler Township Police Department reminds you to make sure your costumes are visible to drivers by adding reflective tape and walk with flashlights and/or glowsticks, and reminds drivers to be alert and on the lookout for trick or treaters! ... If you are handing out candy, make sure to leave your porch light ON. If you are not handing out candy, turn your porch light OFF. Happy Halloween *We are leaving the decision to participate in Halloween up to each individual. Please use your best judgement when deciding what is best for you and your family.
