Just a grateful thank you to the marvelous Vets & staff at Housepaws, for their amazing service, and compassion, in helping our dogs. In these difficult times it was wonderful to be able to have a vet come to the house to assist one of our dogs.

This is Chloe. She came to us a little less than a year ago, as an owner surrender. She was skinny, lethargic, covered in fleas, and peeing blood. We had her... vetted, and found out she had a large bladder stone, causing her much pain. So we had the surgery to remove this bladder stone. She was then put on a special diet to prevent any further stones, and help her gain some weight. Well a few weeks ago, she was diagnosed with another large bladder stone, despite no deviation from her special diet. She has been living with us as a somewhat permanent foster until vets can figure out just exactly what is wrong with this tiny 3 1/2 pound dog. Well we got the terrible news today, that she has a liver shunt. (PSS). Generally, this is a genetic disorder caused by breeders who attempt to breed so-called teacup dogs. The liver does not develop properly. There is no such thing as a true teacup dog it is simply a term used by breeders to get more money, for these small pups, and is often a death sentence for such a tiny dogs. Those dogs are bred purely for money, not for health. We will be taking her to another specialist to see if there is a way for this to be treated medically, or holistically. If not she may require surgery. This surgery would cost $5,000.00 to $6,000.00. She has several other health issues, as well, so we are hesitant to give this tiny dog a third major surgery in less than a year at this point. However we are not giving up on her. We will be doing a fundraiser to help pay for her care. We would appreciate anything that you can give toward trying to get this tiny girl a healthier, happier life. Chloe is not yet 2 1/2 years old. Please send positive thoughts for Chloe and her foster mom.

We are very proud to say, that today is the 6th Anniversary, of the beginning of Sherry’s Place Rescue. Six years ago today a very small group of women formed a... nonprofit corporation in New Jersey, to save and re home small dogs. There have been trials, tribulations, and bumps along the way, but we are very happy to be here still, helping the dogs. On Monday, we will adopt to her forever family, our 88th dog from Sherry’s Place Rescue. Here is to the next 88. A huge thank you, to all of you who have given us support, both emotionally and financially, and to those of you who have adopted one (or two!) of our dogs, and become a part of the Sherry’s Place family. We very much appreciate you all, and hope we can continue our work, as we still want to try to save them all. Adopt don’t shop.
