Week 2 - Crossover Series This week we will learn how to do the Iverson crossover. These our the steps to perfecting this move. Details:... work on hesitation dribble. 10 pound dribbles with each hand. 10 pound dribbles with each hand, but this time step forward. (Left hand pound dribble, left foot forward) and Vice versa. 10 crossover dribbles from left to right hand, then 10 crossover dribbles from right to left hand. Put it together: Hesitation dribble, shift your weight, keep your head up and dribble low. - Reps 5 to 10 reps for each step Rest Repeat until mastery It’s hard to play well, but it’s easy to work hard- Kevin Durant

WELCOME! We are pleased to announce our new virtual basketball coaching program. Shissler Skills and Drills. In this series, you can follow along at home and hopefully learn how to adapt some of these basic drills into your playing style to improve your game. Check back weekly on Tuesday afternoons for each installment. We will also be offering different challenges in the near future to help promote some engagement from you! Week 1 offers some crossover drills to explore. Ple...ase let us know different areas of play you would like to see, and we can help build your user experience! Week 1 - Crossover Series Details: -Stay low, dribble the ball with your left hand 10 times. Dribble the ball with your right hand 10 times. -From a stationary position, keeping your eyes and chin up dribble the ball back and forth between your left and right hand 10 times. This will build up speed, accuracy, and fingertip control. After this is perfected, you can add a dribble between crossovers. -Practice game situations. Work on your crossover dribble on inanimate objects such as cones, chairs, etc... These drills can be worked on in front your house, in your back yard or any where you have a little space. Due to an expected high heat index, on Monday, July 20th, the Health Department will be declaring a Heat Health Emergency. Residents should take special care to avoid the heat and get into air conditioning. The City has also activated the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging's Heatline, a free service that can connect residents to Health Department nurses who can help assess situations and offer recommendations on the best way to stay safe. Because some folks will have difficul...ty with reaching air conditioning, the City will be opening sites where Philadelphians can cool off safely. They include libraries, schools, SEPTA buses, and spraygrounds throughout this city. Libraries Visitors will be required to abide by social distancing guidelines and wear a mask while inside. Library staff have implemented several measures, including increased cleaning and lowered occupancy limits, to lower the risk of COVID-19 infection. These libraries will be open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Haddington Library at 446 North 65th Street Lillian Marrero Library at 601 West Lehigh Avenue Logan Library 1333 Wagner Avenue Schools Visitors will be required to abide by social distancing guidelines and wear a mask while inside. City staff will be on-site to ensure that visitors abide by the rules. This site will be open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20. West Philadelphia High School at 49th and Chestnut Streets Kensington High School for Creative and Performing Arts at 1901 North Front Street SEPTA Cooling Buses The City is working with SEPTA to make air-conditioned buses available for folks to drop in to cool off. The normal SEPTA social distancing and masking rules will be in force on these buses. The buses are expected to be open between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday, July 20. Germantown and Allegheny Avenues Wyoming and Rising Sun Avenues Frankford and Allegheny Avenues 52nd Street and Larchwood Avenue Parks and Recreation Spraygrounds Residents are also encouraged to visit any of the Parks and Recreation Department’s 92 spraygrounds. Residents are encouraged to stay socially distanced when visiting their local site and to wear a mask when not in the water.
