Hi Everyone, Santa is heading back to the North Pole to check his list twice! He enjoyed his time in Silver Spring Township. Sorry if anyone was missed, Santa did his best given the circumstances this year. ... Hope everyone has a Safe and Happy Holiday!
Saturday, December 19th the Silver Spring Fire Company will teaming up with Santa to spread some holiday cheer before the big day!! Unfortunately Santa is not immune to Covid-19 so given our current pandemic we were forced to change a few things. This year we will not be handing out any treats and we will not be stopping to visit to try to keep Santa safe for the holidays. The fire trucks will be escorting Santa starting at 0830 and conclude around 3pm. Please listen for the sirens in your neighborhoods to know when he is in the area. We are unable to estimate timing since we are not making stops this year. Please feel free to step out of your homes, wave, and get excited to see Santa as we try to continue to spread holiday cheer. Happy holidays from all of us at SSCFC!
Just a reminder: Winter's Night that is normal held here has been canceled. However, you can head down to New Kingstown Fire Company for the Holly Jolly Movie Night which is a drive in movie style event!

Make it a fall back tradition! Change your clocks + change your alarm batteries this weekend. Working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors save lives. M...ore tips: Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home. A smoke alarm should be on the ceiling or high on a wall. Test all smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button. It is best to use interconnected smoke alarms. When one smoke alarm sounds, they all sound. People who are hard-of-hearing or deaf can use alarms with strobe lights and bed shakers. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3mIscq5. #BeFireSafePA

Tonight for training our members were given a chance to practice with both hydraulic tools as well as the battery operated tools to keep their auto extrication skills fresh. Additionally FF Fisher was able to continue his driver training on the Squad operating the on board HRT System. A special thank you to Sam Miller for providing the vehicle.

Congress designated October 28th as National First Responders Day in 2017. The resolution honors the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and all those who are ...first on the scene in stressful situations. We thank all those first responders this and every day for their hard work and dedication to keep us safe. And a special shoutout to the emergency services within our municipality Silver Spring EMS, Silver Spring Community Fire Co., New Kingstown Fire Co. and Silver Spring Township Police Department. Just a few pictures from tonight’s training on low angle rescue. CAPT. Munson reviewed equipment carried on the squad as well as conducting drills utilizing a hauling system. Thank you to new member Jason Smith for lending his knowledge to the evening.
Today the Squad transferred to Carlisle Fire and Rescue while they operated on the scene of a house fire. Shortly into the transfer the Squad was called to the scene of the fire for manpower. Crews assisted with overhaul and clean up. While the Squad was in Carlisle the station crew handled a call into Hampden with the Engine. To end the night crews will be reviewing ropes and stoke basket use for low angle rescues for our weekly training. A big thank you to all of our members for their time today!
9/4/20: please steer clear of I-81 N in the area of MM 58 if possible while the township companies, Hampden Fire Police, HJ Towing, and PSP work a tractor trailer accident. Recovery companies and traffic control will be on scene for at least a couple hours due to clean up of product.
