This 1936 Boycraft Chevy was manufactured by the Murray Ohio Manufacturing Company based out of Cleveland, Ohio. The company originally started making parts for automobiles in 1919 but moved to manufacturing pedal cars in 1923 under the name Steelcraft Wheel Goods. #TotWheels

We're moving some things around on our website and ran into a few technical glitches that prevented us from updating last week's Car Detective Photo Quiz. We want to congratulate Mason Pellegrini for being our most recent winner. You can find the answers on that particular page.

We are deeply saddened to share the news that our dear friend and volunteer Tommy Kortman has passed away. Tommy has been an important part of our team since 2012 and was one of our most-loved and popular volunteers. Tommy was a self-proclaimed gear head who loved cars and everything about the sport of racing. His father was a mechanic, and Tommy always said that his first memory was doing body work with his Pop on their 57 Chevy. Tommy spent a lot of his formative years wr...enching and racing cars before settling back down to focus on model building in his later days. When we think of Tommy, the first word that comes to mind is helper. He was always there to lend a hand with any project, and gave everything he could to support the museum. Tommy co-founded the Philly NNL Model Car Group in 2017, and his model car shows were some of our favorite events and most highly-attended special events. We already miss Tommy’s easy smile, gregarious laugh, and thoughtful presence. We already miss his incredible photographs and amazing models. We already miss the man that was Tommy Kortman. Thank you for your time, your service, and your dedication to our museum. Godspeed old friend. Tommy will be laid to rest on Wednesday, October 28 at Sweeney’s Funeral Home in Riverside N.J. The service will be held between the hours of 6-8 pm.

This 1950s era pedal car was inspired by the popular "Dragnet" television series from the same period. If you want "just the facts" on the pedal car, you should know it came equipped standard with a battery-powered loudspeaker hidden in the hood scoop. It is emblazoned with period-appropriate stickers noting "Police 5724" on the back, in homage to the series. #TotWheels

At one time, Garton was the largest wheel goods toy factory in the world and was known for introducing a new product to the toy market every year for almost five decades. Their 1950s Hot Rod, as exhibited below, uses a chain-drive with ball bearing pedals for propulsion. It was sold from Western Auto Parts stores throughout the 1950s and retailed for $21.95. #TotWheels

We were fortunate to have recently received these photos of our 1936 Bugatti 57G from its initial arrival in the states back in 1961. At the time, it belonged to Gene Cesari, one of the great car importers of his day. #ThrowbackThursday

This Indian themed pedal car features three wheels and a chain drive. Its streamlined curves and styling reflect the heavy influence the Art Deco movement had over popular culture in the late 1930s. It is also a bit of an outlier, as three-wheeled pedal cars were produced in much smaller numbers at the time of its production. #TotWheels

This Ferrari Testa Rossa pedal car was designed and manufactured by the renowned Italian coach builder Carrozzeria Scaglietti. It was originally built to replicate a Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa for a child to play with. It's one of the 30+ kids cars on display through December 13 as part of our newest exhibit, Tot Wheels.
