Back at the beginning of the pandemic when PPE was in high demand, they started a fundraising initiative to help the heroes in their community. They set up a GoFundMe to raise money to provide supplies to local clinicians and emergency responders working to treat patients infected with COVID-19. As time has gone on and needs related to the pandemic have changed, Skippack has also used these funds to help patients who can’t afford their prescription costs. The journey as a small business has not been easy & there have been many obstacles (many most don’t see)...pharmacy benefit managers, profit losses on prescriptions, DIR fees, forced mail orders/chain, COVID, the list goes on but when tough times arise, we come together as a co...mmunity. We remind ourselves we are here because our community will not/should not settle for mediocre when it comes to their health. We remain independent because we can/we will stick up for our patients. Rephrasing the words of Mahatma Gandhi...You must not lose faith in pharmacy. If a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty. Not every pharmacy is a factory...pharmacy as a profession has not fallen & we will not let it. There are thousands of independent pharmacies throughout the country who will continue to fight the fight for you & your families. The virus cannot and will not be an excuse. We know people often say "my insurance requires me to g...o 'there'..." --- but we'd like to let you know . Call or speak to your independent pharmacy to see if they can work up a solution for you...do not believe everything that 'they' tell you. The story from a patient below has happened because of what 'they' have created through a vertically-integrated monopoly from owning the one hand that feeds the other. Sometimes, you pay for what you get. If you are okay waiting on hold for an hour, if you are okay with just being a number, if you are okay with possibly getting the wrong medication from time to time...save a couple bucks and listen to your insurance company.
