The last significant snowfall was two winters ago. With accumulating snowfall in the forecast for Wednesday into Thursday the Skippack Fire Company would like t...o remind everybody that a clearly visible, accessible fire hydrant could save your home or even your life. If a fire hydrant is buried in snow, firefighters can lose valuable time trying to locate it when they first arrive at a fire. You can perform a valuable public service and protect yourself, your family, and your neighbors by taking the responsibility for shoveling out and clearing fire hydrants near your home during and after a snowstorm. With more snow sure to be on the way, we’d like to offer these suggestions: Know the location of the nearest fire hydrants in your neighborhood. Make sure they are shoveled clear after each snowfall. Clear the snow three feet around the hydrant so firefighters have enough room to use the hydrant. Please take some time now to save precious minutes in case of a fire. A few scoops of snow today could make all the difference later.

Today (Monday) at 2:00 PM, Exelon Generation will conduct its semi-annual, full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens surrounding Limerick Generating Stat...ion (LGS). There is no emergency and no cause for concern. The sirens will sound for approximately 3 minutes. This is one of two semi-annual tests performed each year (the other is in June). If this were a real emergency, the sirens would indicate that people living and working in the area should tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station for more information. They are not a signal to evacuate.
