Colonial Park Fire Co. #1

This morning two members from the Southside went to HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College Shumaker Public Safety Center to assist LifeTeam EMS with their EMS Academy training day. Members were requested to set up rope rescue equipment and expose the EMS students to the technical rescue side of EMS care. The event also provides for an excellent training opportunity for our own members to set up and use some of the lesser used and more complex pieces of equipment carried on Rescue 33 as well as allow members from multiple organizations to converse and work together under non-emergency situations.

Congratulations to our own Chief Paul Esposito on his selection as Firefighter of the Year at his full-time job with DLA Professional Firefighters Association IAFF F-221!

Rescue company 33 is returning from a door-pop on the interstate. Crews arrived with one vehicle that rolled multiple times and one person confined. Rescue 33 arrived and stabilized the car before putting the AMKUS tools in service and removing the driver door for occupant extrication. Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and PA State Police will be on the scene with traffic backlogged until vehicle is removed. Crews will be back at Station 33 in Lower Paxton Township selling Christmas Trees to finish out the night!

Engine33, Ladder 33, Rescue 33, Traffic 33, Chief 33-1 and mutual aid units are currently operating Box 33-2 at the Colonial Park Mall in the area of Buffalo Wild Wings for a reported fire. Initially dispatched as a fire alarm, Dauphin County Department of Public Safety upgraded the fire alarm to a box roughly a minute after dispatch for patrons smelling smoke inside. Initial crews from Engine 33 located a sprinkler head activated and all Lower Paxton Fire units are still operating.

Last night company 33 was asked to establish a landing zone at Landis Field for a patient transport helicopter from PENNSTAR to retrieve a patient from Lifeteam EMS. Although not as common for urban and suburban areas to land in a field, these helicopters are used to lessen transport times to specialty hospitals around the state and country.
