Did you know orthodontics was the very first dental specialty? In 1900, Edward Angle founded the specialty of orthodontics, limiting his practice to specifically deal with the alignment of teeth and jaws! To become an orthodontist today, you must complete 4 years of college with dental prerequisites, followed by 4 years of dental school, and then complete a 2-3 year residency.
