SRU Marching Pride 02.02.2021

Band Ten Hut! Over the course of the semester, the SRU Marching Pride has been rehearsing in socially distanced groups, building community, and passing on our "Green and White" traditions to our first-year membership! A few weeks ago, we had a chance to record in-person and showcase some of what we worked on. With more to come, enjoy this feature from "Around the Rock: BAND-ING TOGETHER!" We wish all SRU students a strong and wonderful finish to the semester! Slippery Rock Pr...ide, Green and White Family :-) https://youtu.be/UB5JhgC2Iws

Have you ever wondered what it's like to play in a marching band in college? Are you currently a high school student? If you answered "yes" to these questions, you should sign up for our Virtual High School Band Day event! It's on November 7th from 10am-12pm via Zoom. We will have a Marching Pride meet and greet with student leaders, games, a play along, and an opportunity for you to ask questions with our student panel about band in general! We can't wait to see you there!... Register here: https://forms.gle/4ZbE35yCXU9SaF6j7

Today’s Leadership introduction goes to Zach Rohland, the Saxophone Section Sergeant! Zach Rohland Is a Senior History Major from Butler PA. This will be Zach’s ninth year in the marching arts. Before coming to Slippery Rock, Zach marched for five years with the Knoch High School Marching Band where he marched in Disney, Norfolk, New York, and Nashville. This is his fourth year with the Slippery Rock Marching Pride, where he served as a section sergeant for two years. Zach wa...s also a member of the award winning 2019 edition of the Slippery Rock Marching Pride which traveled to Ireland for the St. Patrick’s Parade in Dublin. Other organizations on campus that Zach is involved in are: The Debate Society, Law Society, Spanish Club, and the Concert Band. In addition to being a History Major, Zach also has a minor in Professional Spanish and a concentration in Pre-Law. If he isn’t on the field with a saxophone, you can probably find him at South Rock in his apartment, most likely working or procrastinating. For the last two summers, Zach has had an internship with The Law Offices of Gail E. Suhr, P.L.L.C., where he works as a Law Clerk. While he is there, he does large amounts of paperwork and helps people with their family litigation matters. What are you most likely to become famous for? I would definitely have to say for being ridiculously loud and upbeat. Everyone who has been around me for at least a season knows that I have a lot of energy, especially in the mornings when we are going places like Allentown early in the morning. You honestly can hear my voice from Swope all the way to the dorms if I’m yelling, so I’d probably have to say that. What does your dream vacation look like? That’s tough, but I would have to say going to Italy and exploring all over. As a History Major, I am naturally extremely curious about historical places, and where can you get more history crammed together in such a small area as Italy? What are you most excited for in the upcoming SRU Marching Pride season? Meeting new people and getting to make music with them! I’m a social butterfly, so I really really enjoy getting to meet new people and learn about them. I love hanging out with new and old friends and just getting to talk. I have missed making music with the band, and as such I’m ready to see new people, make new friends, and get back to it.
