Additional Information: In addition to our classroom spaces, we offer both indoor and outdoor play spaces for the children to enjoy each day, with at least 20 minutes of gross motor play time built into every class time. For our religious development, we focus on a Bible story each month and tell the story through child centered Godly Play stories that encourage children to think deeply and inquisitively about the stories we are learning. ... In addition to the development of academic skills, we believe deeply in the importance of play and social skill development in early childhood, and change our dramatic play center spaces monthly to encourage new vocabulary development and different ways to engage in the themes of the month. For further enrichment opportunities outside of the classroom, in previous years, we have taken fall field trips to the pumpkin patch and spring trips to a variety of places around the Pittsburgh area. We are rooted in our school and church community and strive to strengthen it through school wide events such a Trunk or Treat and our Spring Silent Auction. We truly believe we have a very special place here at St. David's and we hope to see you as part of it! PLAY AND LEARN: Play and Learn is a mixed age class for children ages 1-5 years old. In this class, children are able to explore the world around them in a play based environment and engage in fun and creative crafts. It can also be used as a way to add time to a child's school day (either before or after their class). The class is offered Monday through Friday 9:30-12, 12:30-3, or 9:30-3:00. We also offer an early morning drop off Monday through Friday 8:30-9:30. The class consists of 2 teachers for 12 children.

CLUB DISCOVERY: Our Club Discovery program is an enrichment class for children ages 3-5. In this STEAM focused class, children learn hands-on through a variety of creative and fun learning experiences to better understand the world around them. They spend time on space, anatomy, science exploration, gardening, architecture, engineering, and more! The class for 3 year old children is available Tuesdays 12-3 and Fridays 9:30-12:30. For our 4 and 5 year old children, it is available Mondays and Wednesdays 12-3 and Fridays 9:30-12:30. The class consists of two teachers for 16 children.

T-CLASS: Our T-Class is for children turning 5 who have previously completed a fours program and are not quite old enough or not quite ready for kindergarten. We continue to explicitly teach letters, letter sounds, math skills, numbers, and handwriting skills, with the addition of early reading skills and sight words. The T-Class meets Monday through Friday 9:30-12 and consists of two teachers for 16 students.

FOUR YEAR OLD CLASSES: Our fours program will prepare children for kindergarten socially, academically, and in school readiness. We explicitly teach letters, numbers, shapes, colors, math skills, and handwriting/language skills. We use Handwriting Without Tears to develop these skills, tying them into letter naming and letter sound identification. These skills are taught in a developmentally appropriate, play-based environment where children learn and develop social skills... that will prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Our fours program is offered in both a three day and four day option, as well as AM and PM times. The three day fours meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:30-12 or 12:30-3:00. The AM four day fours meets Monday through Thursday 9:30-12. Our PM four day fours meets Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 12:30-3:00. Hi families- This morning, at approximately 8:45, we lost power to the education wing of the building. As such, we were forced to close with an unknown time of power restoration. Emails and posts to school and classroom Facebook pages went out around 9:00 as soon as I arrived at the building. We realize that not all families are able to check Facebook and email each morning and we apologize to those who showed up to the building this morning, as well as any inconvenience i...t may have caused by us being closed today. In order to ensure that we are reaching everyone, we will now also be using the Remind app to send out information to the entire school regarding school closures and other pertinent information. See below for the email to families regarding our status through this Wednesday. We will be closed tomorrow, Monday November 3. We will remain closed Tuesday for conferences and will reopen Wednesday, November 4 as normal. Hi families- After much discussion and deliberation, we have decided to err on the side of caution and remain closed tomorrow, Monday November 3, 2020. Overnight and daytime temperatures tomorrow will be very cold and the temporary heating company will ...not be able to deliver any kind of safe temporary heaters until Wednesday. We had thought to use space heaters until the company could come, however, they are just not safe to have with the many young children we have in the building. As of right now, we will remain closed tomorrow. We will also be closed Tuesday for our previously scheduled Parent Teacher Conference Day. We will reopen on Wednesday November 4 as normal. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your understanding and flexibility during this time.
