Photos are still coming in from #EmployeeAppreciation celebrations last week, so we'll continue posting them to our photo album! We'd like to send a big thank y...ou to everyone who took part in #EAW2022, whether you were able to celebrate one day or all week long. We know how busy the school days are and how hard everyone works, and we appreciate all that you do! We'd also like to thank everyone who sent in their #appreciationshoutout! It has been so wonderful seeing all the positivity, appreciation, and friendship our team members have for one another. As a school bus dispatcher, you plan and schedule each bus driver route, call substitutes as needed, and dispatch a fleet of school buses. You also complete various office duties, train new drivers, process drivers’ time cards and payroll, and evaluate the driving habits of all drivers periodically. Your responsibilities include handling route and bus stop issues and complaints and speaking with parents and school principals regarding any behavioral or disciplinary problems. ...You may be required to drive a school bus if necessary. Other duties include conducting emergency evacuation drills and ensuring drivers and passengers understand and comply with safety rules. How to Become a School Bus Dispatcher: The qualifications needed to become a school bus dispatcher include a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate plus experience in school transportation or a related field. You will also be required to qualify as a school bus driver and possess a valid driver’s license including any state-required special endorsements. It is critical that you understand and reinforce all compliance and safety laws with each bus driver and have the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with drivers as well as students, parents, and principals. You should be able to write reports and present them as needed and must have excellent communication skills and patience. Organizational skills are also crucial for staffing bus routes and coordinating driver schedules.
