During Black History Month, we are excited to expand the concept to encompass some unheralded African American cuisine for our "Southern-Style" Wednesday. Gullah Shrimp & Red Rice This week is a Gullah inspired Coastal staple of Shrimp and Red Rice. Five 16/20 shrimp, in a shrimp stock base stew with onion, pepper, celery, and smoked pork belly, with a side of andouille sausage, tomato herbed red rice.... History of the Gullah: The Gullah people are African Americans who live in the Lowcountry region of the U.S. states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, in both the coastal plain and the Sea Islands. We are super excited to celebrate Black History this month and have some cool things lined up. First, we want to honor the black bartenders who help pave the way for the modern cocktail revolution. And the drink that comes up more than any other is the ! From Cato Alexander to Tom Bullock, The Mint Julep was the signature drink of these great black bartenders, gaining them notoriety. We are going to give you our best version, using @unclenearest small-batch whiskey,... raw sugar, and a whole lot of mint. Refreshing but packs a punch, this cocktail will surely delight. We also plan to donate some of the cocktail proceeds to the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, @urbanleague. Also, look for some new spins on our - menu as well! Opening a bar during a pandemic is challenging, but using our new platform to celebrate the contributions and history made by black and brown people makes it all that more worthwhile.
