Check out this project we recently completed! The clients had their downspouts buried under the front lawn and exiting out of the retaining wall. During heavy rains, water would shoot out of the retaining wall and make the sidewalk a muddy, swampy mess. We replaced the existing soil with fast-draining soil, added plants that can tolerate both wet and dry conditions, and then placed ceramic pots (with holes) to act as a catch & release system. We are staying busy, installing rain barrels and planning rain garden installations for the Rosedale Runoff Reduction Project. We plan to complete 7 gardens by the end of the season, so stay tuned for updates on those projects.
