So who escaped to the beach this weekend because of the nice weather? Sad to say....I didn't.....but this picture sure makes me wish I had!

Thought it was supposed to be crockpot season? But it’s 70 degrees today (definitely not complaining...can it stay like this all winter?)

Who knew that 2020 would be the year I became a homeschool teacher while also running a business. My preschoolers have been busy learning their numbers with a little help from our mat cutting machine at the shop.(which is how I made this number set) We've been following the Blossom and Root curriculum in between appointments with customers and putting together picture frames for over 6 weeks now. As tired as I am at the end of the day, I am enjoying all the extra time our f...amily gets to spend together these days. One final painting by a dear friend. For those of you that have been patrons of our shop in Downingtown since I first took over in 2007, you may remember the display we used to have of colorful abstract paintings (and accompanying video) that were created by a pony. The display and the paintings changed throughout the years as this pony, Minnow to be exact, created new works and sold them around the world as well as in our small shop in town.... Minnow was my dear friend, a lifelong companion of 18 years, and a treasured member of our family. Sadly on October 29th we had to say our final goodbye to him. Before he left he painted a few blank canvas and when he finished the last one he placed his brush on his easel and walked away. To all our customers that took home some of Minnow's original works over the years, we thank you. Because of you Minnow was able to keep painting year after year and doing what he loved the most. Happy Halloween from our circus to yours! We had to forgo our annual Halloween party this year (the pandemic had other plans)...but I wasn't going to miss our annual family Halloween picture...pandemic or not! We had to get a little creative to get our group shot this year (lots of moving parts), but in the end it came together with inspiration from one of our kid's favorite movies, The Greatest Showman.... If 2020 has taught us anything, it's how to move a little slower and appreciate the things around us. I don't know about you, but this fall I'm appreciating the beauty of all the colors and changing leaves so much more. Chester County is such a magical place in the fall, and I feel lucky to call this place home. Hit the LIKE button if you agree!

Only a few more days before I get to eat all my kid's Halloween candy Certainly this year things will be a little different. We had to cancel our children's annual Halloween party, and there won't be any ringing of doorbells this year in our neighborhood. But we're all looking forward to collecting some treats at a safe distance. We also heard of a fun drive-thru event in Chester county were you can tour some of the spookiest houses.... The big secret behind our shop window displays is that it is never just one of us creating them. It's a big team effort with all of our staff....even the youngest ones. Yes, it takes twice as long. Yes, we waste A LOT of paint. But, the smiles on my kid's faces when they see their creations up in the window is priceless....
