Superior Ambulance Service & Training Institute. Grove City, Pennsylvania 25.01.2021

Today our agency received these. Each one of these cards has a hand written message to our crews. Some say thank you for taking care of our community. Some give words of support. Some offer prayers for their safety. Each one is special and appreciated.

We are proud to announce that Superior Ambulance Service; representing the Northwest Region of PA, will be participating in a Statewide Pilot Program that allows ALS Providers the ability to administer the antibiotic Cefazolin for Open Fractures. The early administration of antibiotics is associated with reduced rates of infection in patients with open fractures. It has been proven that the greatest benefit occurs when antibiotics are administered within 60 minutes of the injury. EMS providers are the first healthcare professionals to treat most patients with open fractures and within the 60 minute window. Our ability to participate in this program is made possible with the cooperation of our ALS providers, AHN Grove City which is a Level IV Trauma Facility and Matt Oczypok, M.D.

The EMS community has lost a great provider, mentor, and friend. I always looked forward to our conversations about EMS and how to make it better. Thank you for the inspiration and sharing of your knowledge. John....I hope you find that secret pond where the fish bite non stop. RIP....we will take it from here.

As an EMS provider for 45 years, I want to bring some things to the publics attention that should be concerning to them. Not sure how many people heard of the Hazard Pay being provided but not one EMS Agency ( ambulance service) in Pennsylvania received a penny. Many ambulance services lost the extra revenue from cancelled standby events and programs. Many ambulance services lost revenue from routine transports because patient appointments & procedures were cancelled.... Yet....these front line providers and agencies were expected to be prepared for all the unknown without any financial support from local, county, state, or federal officials. Some will jump up and say there were grants available or other programs yet the string were tied tight on these and alot of ambulance services again were left out. As you can read in prior post from AMR and Acadian Ambulance Service, two of the largest agencies in the US, about what is going on in our EMS world. Local officials should be very concerned about the status of their EMS agencies.....I'm not talking fire departments.....I'm talking about ambulance services. Our EMS agencies are hanging on the best they can but I am telling you...many won't last much longer. Alot of elected officials out there can talk the talk but are unable to walk the walk when it comes to supporting EMS. I want these elected officials to answer one question for everyone " what are we going to do when someone needs an ambulance and there is no one to respond because we are a dollar short & a day late ?" This is not posted as a scare or threat.....it's the facts and as always, I'm willing to provide them to anyone. See more
