Blast from the past! Here is Ed, the current owner, with his friend, Brian, in the 1970’s. Ed and Carol bought the Lodge in 1988, after Ed had enjoyed many years of hunting behind the Lodge with family and friends!

It's official! Eliot Ness Fest will return for its much-anticipated third running next summer. Committee members this month pulled the proverbial tommy gun trig...ger on a three-day event (July 15-17, 2022) that is sure to be a winner. While there will be myriad other activities and features all weekend long, the festival will be built around an unfolding drama. On Friday afternoon, Al Capone and other underworld figures will roll into town and take control. But fear not! On Saturday, Eliot Ness and his Untouchables will band together on the stage of the Coudersport Theatre and emerge to restore law and order. Capone will be brought to justice during a public trial on Sunday. Meanwhile, vintage vehicles will line the streets, where a series of lively raids and hijackings will entertain the audience, townspeople and visitors will dress in Roaring '20s attire, and the Eliot Ness Museum right in the heart of town will be open for tours and several themed events. Check back on our Facebook page and at eliotnessfest.com for details. See more

WHEN I AM AMONG THE TREES by Mary Oliver When I am among the trees, especially the willows and the honey locust,... equally the beech, the oaks and the pines, they give off such hints of gladness. I would almost say that they save me, and daily. I am so distant from the hope of myself, in which I have goodness, and discernment, and never hurry through the world but walk slowly, and bow often. Around me the trees stir in their leaves and call out, Stay awhile. The light flows from their branches. And they call again, It’s simple, they say, and you too have come into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled with light, and to shine. See more

"Then & Now" photographic exhibit: Tom Fee's lumber camp on Commissioner Run, Potter County, PA. These photographs were taken in roughly the same location, abo...ut 110 years apart. The image on the left shows the crew and camp established by Tom Fee, a jobber contracted to the Goodyear Lumber Company to cut the hemlock timber in the Commissioner Run valley. This camp lasted 2 seasons, from 1908 to 1910. The photo on the right shows the former camp location today. It is now a clearing in the forest with a number of gnarled old apple trees growing wherever the men of Fee's camp discarded their apple cores. It is also a stop along the museum's Sustainable Forestry Trail, which includes sixteen interpretive waysides installed in 2000. Look for more "Then & Now" photographic comparisons to come as part of a virtual exhibit planned for the museum's web site.

The museum is working on a "grounds photo scavenger hunt" project, and here's a sneak peek. We're encouraging visitors to explore the museum grounds, even if th...e exhibits and facilities are not currently open to the public. We've had a lot of people stop by with the change in season and the beautiful fall foliage adorning the local forest. All of these images were taken in places that are always accessible on the museum grounds; open or closed. Can you identify what they are? Type your answers in the comments below. See more
