GLEN COVE ROAD BRIDGE #155 (closest bridge to MD440) UPDATE: Unfortunate newsthe west abutment failed this morning. Thankfully, the contractor's crews (Six M... from Delta, PA) were not under the bridge at the time and all are safe. We tried to keep the structure, but it is no longer safe, nor practical to do so - therefore, we have made the decision to move forward with a complete replacement structure. It will take approximately 24 - 30 months to get the replacement structure designed and constructed, but in the interim, we will be installing a portable pre-fabricated truss bridge for the citizens to use. We have already tasked Six M to remove the old structure. We are working on a design for the temporary footers and will have Six M construct them and erect the temporary bridge under their current contract with us. The temporary bridge will only be one lane, but will be able to safely carry trucks and school buses. We are anticipating the temporary bridge and road to reopen in approximately 2-3 months.
