The Crossings Animal Society 05.12.2020

It’s Giving Tuesday. The Crossings Animal Society Asks for Your Support to Help Dogs and Cats in Need- To donate, please go to: https://www.TheCrossingsAnimalSociety.org Lady, a 10-year old Coonhound/Boxer mix, needed surgery to repair a badly torn cruciate ligament (an ACL in us 2-leggeds) this last March. But the procedure was too costly for her person, who loves her dearly, to afford. So she reached out to CAS’ Boris & Natasha’s Fund.... Lady qualified for use of the fund. However, there was a problem. We normally spend $1000 from the fund for each animal, then reach out to our supporters when the cost of veterinary care exceeds that amount. But COVID-19 had begun, and it was no time to ask for donations. So the Board of Directors agree to spend down the fund on Lady and one other dog to provide them with the care they needed. Lady’s surgery, called TPLO, went well. However, she had some complications a bit later. Although the prognosis remained good, it would take some time for Lady to completely heal. The photo you see of Lady was taken last week. She has completely recovered, so much so that her person told us that Lady is acting like a puppy again. Even with Boris & Natasha’s Fund depleted, The Crossings Animal Society (CAS) has continued to do good work through the months of COVID-19. We’ve provided routine veterinary care, set up a family-to-family pet food bank, and adopted over 25 dogs and cats into loving and secure families to share their lives with. With that in mind, we kindly ask you to consider donating to CAS today, Giving Tuesday, which occurs at the beginning of our Annual Appeal. We promise to use your tax-deductible donation wisely and with intent, adhering to the principles of caring for homeless dogs and cats, and giving them the best life possible. Your generous donation will also help us replenish Boris & Natasha’s Fund, so we may re-open it. As an added bonus, the first 25 supporters who give $50 or more on December 1 will receive an I’m Rescued and Cherished 2021 calendar. The calendar is filled with photos of adorable rescue pets and their stories, particularly how much they mean to their families during COVID-19. It’s sure to put a smile on your face each time you flip the page to the next month. Please know that we appreciate your donation, no matter what size. Every dollar we receive counts, and helps in our mission to provide quality care and a loving home for every dog and cat in our community. This holiday season, we are so grateful to our supporters. Without you, we couldn’t have accomplished all we have in the past. We want to continue to help dogs & cats in needproviding veterinary care, helping to feed them, and having them become beloved family members. With your help, we will. Thank you so much. To donate, please go to: https://www.TheCrossingsAnimalSociety.org and click on the orange DONATE button at the top right of the Home Page.

They're Here! The 2021 "I'm Rescued and Cherished" calendars have arrived! Order yours now! Our pets have been a source of company, comfort, and joy during this difficult time. So we are very proud to offer our 2021 calendar: "I'm Rescued and Cherished: Pets and Their Families During COVID-19.".... Why is this calendar special? Having or adopting a pet during COVID-19 has had special meaning for pet families. The stories for each of the dogs and cats in our calendars are unique and heart-warming. But this year in particular, pets have played a singularly important role in helping us cope with the pandemic. Glad you asked. Each month features a dog or cat that was rescued as a stray, from a rescue organization, or from a shelter. Each has their own story-- about how they were adopted, their special personality, and what is has meant to have them during COVID-19. The photo above is George Burns, the 1st place winner of the pet calendar contest. He and the 11 other winners are featured for each month of the year. However, this year we have included the photos of all 34 entries in the calendar! The net profit from the contest was nearly $6000. Our goal is to raise another $4000 from calendar sales. The calendar is $20. It can be mailed for an additional $3.50 per calendar. Arrangements can also be made to pick up your calendar at our Washington Crossing, PA office. The proceeds from the "I'm Rescued and Cherished" calendar contest and sales are used for our programs to help dogs and cats in need-- foster and adoption; Curbside Kibble Express; the Animal Help and Adoption hotline; and Boris & Natasha's Fund for veterinary care. So don't delay. Order your calendar today by logging on to our website www.TheCrossingsAnimalSociety.org.
