Yes, this happened on October 30th!! We are excited to announce our 1st car sale under our re-created Low Income Car Ownership Program "LICO". Pat is the new owner of a 2011 Hyundai Elantra. A great collaboration of efforts with Armco Credit Union, RT. 8 Auto Service and Notary Express . Pat will now have a reliable vehicle to get back and forth to work and allow him to build his credit for the future. Thanks to Armco and their BANZAI Financial literacy, we are able to give LICO clients education about how to manage money and work towards a better financial future. And thanks to Rt 8 Auto Service for providing vehicle maintenance education and check lists to assist clients in maintaining their vehicle health. God is doing big things through our community!
It's BACK!!!!! Have questions and not able to get into the tech store? We have a guy for that! Come see Steve, our Tech Tuesday"" guy! You will be required to wear a mask and your temperature will be taken upon arrival. Steve will be sanitizing between clients and following the same guidelines for temperature taking and masking.
Big shout out to Cochran Subaru Butler for the warm donation of blankets for our shelter and transitional housing units. Cold weather is around the corner so the timing is perfect! Thank you!
Again this year, Harper & Hodge has blessed us with a donation of food and gift cards. 747 pounds of food to be exact! Thank you for your continued support and helping us meet the growing need in the community for food during the holiday season. We are providing hope and changing lives, together.
The holidays are fast approaching! Before we know it we'll be giving thanks with our friends and family over a meal we wait for all year long. You can help local families enjoy a meal of thanks by donating holiday food items like turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yams, canned veggies, and more! For a complete holiday food items list visit our website at www.thelighthousepa.org and click DONATION NEEDS. #providehopewithus Image by lillycantabile via Pixabay
What is Thanksgiving dinner without a turkey! Thanks to Dave's Country Meats donation of 56 turkeys we are one step closer to ensuring every family that receives food this month will receive a turkey with their order. We are so thankful for our champion community partners like Dave's Country Meats
WOW!!! Did you know The Lighthouse Foundation has had over 340 volunteers helping to be the hands and feet of Jesus during 2020?
"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail, They are new every morning!"Lamentations 3:22-23 This month, our volunteer spotlight is Sheila Leitem Neely Sheila is the first voice you will hear if you call our offices on most Mondays. She not only volunteers her time here by answering phones, doing many administrative and clerical tasks for the Administrative staff at the Browns Hill Road location, she has also been a part of our Toy... Shoppe and Backpack committees. She has been retired from her career in Human Resources for Government Contractors for 2 years, and since then God has lead her to The Lighthouse through the wise words of a friend. She is a very young 52 year old with has a loving and supportive husband who encourages her to do things that make her happy. She has 2 adult sons she is very proud of. Sheila loves to do anything outdoors where she gets to enjoy God's Creation. She is very active at her church, Victory Family Church and serves in their guest services and financial coaching teams. Sheila is happiest with a latte in her hand! She loves to tell folks about her favorite place she's ever been, Africa! Sheila volunteers because she can see the impact The Lighthouse Foundation has in the lives of so many families in our community, it brings her joy to see how thankful people are when they receive the items we provide. She said "I feel blessed to be able to have the health and ability to volunteer and to serve people who need the help. I want to be the hands and feet of Jesus and show people HIS love and this is one way I can do that."
Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
We are in need of 1 or 2 individuals to help with our Monday morning Cranberry route. The truck leaves from The Lighthouse at 7:30 am Monday morning and picks up food items at 4 retail stores in the Cranberry area returning to The Lighthouse around 11:30 am. This position does require lifting. If you are interested please click on our volunteer tab on our website www.thelighthousepa.org or call Lee Ann Hune at 724-903-0064

We love the hearts of children when they see a need in the community and want to help. What started as a little boy's desire to help local families have a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner has turned into a family and community mission! Our annual visit from the Orty family included a huge donation of 1,320 lbs of canned and dried food, 209 turkeys, $1,875 in checks, and a partnership with Motocruit which included a Go Fund Me of over $1,000. Three generations come together each year to help make Grant's wish of helping local families come true. Grant, you inspire those around you to take action and we couldn't be more honored to be a part of your giving journey! Thank you for providing hope (and turkeys!) to those in need in our community.
A big "Thank you" to employees from UPS who came in on October 8th and gave some much needed TLC to our "Safe Harbor" location. We are so thankful for United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania for organizing this group during their "Week of Caring"
Our volunteers love and pray for our community and it shows Today staff had a voicemail giving us an update on a gentlemen our volunteers had been praying with for quite awhile and the family wanted to be sure to get the information to the volunteers that had been praying for them. They truly are the hands and feet of Jesus
