The Pennypack Mill 02.12.2020

FUN FACT FRIDAY! Did you know that The Dungworth Mill was also known through the years as The Yerkes Mill and The Pennypack Mill which operated as a grist mill until 1912. At that time it became the "Hatboro Machine Works," which refinished rollers for other grist mills. The building is the only mill on the Pennypack Creek to still have its ‘Hurst Frame' intact. The Hurst Frame held all the running gears of the water mill so that the stone building would not be shaken down by the rumbling vibration.

Hello, everyone! Today is #SmallBusinessSaturday! Throughout the rest of the holiday season we encourage residents to support our local businesses and restaura...nts during this unusually difficult time. The members of our business community are the ones who sponsor our youth sports teams. They provide gift baskets for local nonprofit organizations' fundraising events. They have supported our community and now it's time for us to show up for them. Let's step up and support our business and restaurant community when they need it most - while following the recommended health and safety guidelines. Place orders online. Wear a mask and dine outside. Pick up a meal for your family. Purchase a gift card to use at a later date or to give as a holiday gift. There are still so many ways we can support Hatboro businesses while keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe. Our businesses are the backbone of our community, and they need our support now more than ever. Please #ShopHatboro this holiday season!#ShopSmall #SmallBizSat #SupportLocal #Supportsmall

FUN FACT FRIDAY! Did you know that during the Revolutionary War, Circa 1777, George Washington used the grain from the mill to feed his troops while fighting the Battle of Germantown and again in 1778 during the Battle of Crooked Billet. How cool is that!? Our very first president was at The Pennypack Mill!
