The Way Recovery Houses

Step 6 is about being ready to have God remove the defeats of our character. Augustine refers to these defects as disordered loves. Most of what we struggle with has to do with our hearts. Only through surrender to God can we get the surgery that is needed to take our brokenness and turn it into healing. Only then can we see ourselves as God see us . . . that we are crafted in His image and we have the potential to reflect His glory to a world living in darkness.

This morning reading in The Life Recovery Devotional talks about courage to seize the strength that is within you from God. Peter, when he saw Jesus walking on the water in the midst of a storm, took the courageous step of moving from inside the boat to walking on water to go to Jesus. This is what we must do everyday . . . one foot in front of the other . . . until we are in the grip of Jesus. We need to walk with our eyes on Jesus, not on the situations we face. Blessings.

Here is a word for us today from Isaiah: Isaiah 60:1-3 (ESV) 1 Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. 2 For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. 3 And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. ... Doing devotionals and came across the image. Connected immediately as he was inside, looking out! Praying that we can all continue to COMMIT and surrender to HIS PLANS!

Sometimes I want circumstances or people to change so bad, that I forget that God is in control. I have to remind myself that I am loved, that my Heavenly Father has a plan for my life, and with each moment that I am given; praise His Name!

On a day that I am especially looking toward the ULTIMATE SACRIFICE made for me, I pray that we can open our hearts to continue to sacrifice small things we need to, as the days go by.
