Walk-ins: We will also now allow in select walk-ins, but you may have to wait until we have space for you. Walk-ins will also be 1 person at a time for 15 minutes. Children Since we cannot allow in unattended minors at this time, children may only enter if there is a walk in spot free. This is obviously not ideal (and NEVER the way we want to run a toy store), but we are under strict capacity guidelines and we have to do what is necessary for safety and also efficiency as these next 2 weeks are the most critical of the year. We are so humbled by your support from near and far, old customers and new, family and friends, and others just wanting to support local independently owned shops. You are all so AMAZING! The Tildie’s Team has been hard at work picking orders from the website, wrapping, helping you in the shop, over the phone, via text, DM, and email. No one is ever turned away because they can’t afford it and they rely on donations to keep their doors open. As we... have all become aware of this year, health is what matters most, and something the healthy can easily take for granted. On the anniversary of my first chemo treatment 3 years ago for triple negative breast cancer, health is always on my mind. Thank you everyone! You guys-you are looking at a truck filled with HUNDREDS of toys, donated by YOU via the generosity of local teacher, dad, and amazing food blogger @dwardcooks who set up this toy drive to help out a local small business ( Tildie’s Toy Box!) while donating toys to Philly kids in need. He did this instead of charging for his latest ebook- right?! The response was overwhelming and the haul is ginormous. The Tildie’s Team and I had trouble keeping ...up with all of the orders at times! I didn’t know how to deliver all of these toys (headed to the Jane Adams house, whose shelter is home to over 70 kids in need, who’s need was presented to me by a dear friend) across the city to Kensington. Meanwhile, my office was filled to the brim with your generous donations! Our wonderful @eastpassyunk community came together and the @societyhilldanceacademy owners volunteered their time, their truck, and their strength to deliver this modern Santa’s sleigh to kids who really need it. There is not one part of this story that’s not simply amazing. You donated from all over the country, whether a few dollars or hundreds, you took the time to DO IT, you wrote sweet messages in the notes, you warmed my heart so much I couldn’t help but throw in a few extra boxes of goodies too. It’s been a rough few days dealing with situations where our pandemic rules aren’t respected, taken out of context, and taken personally (it’s really not, it’s just safety and also the law!) and this was a day where all that nonsense melted away because people are actually good, kind, and generous, and above all come together as a community to lift up our children.
