I woke up this morning with this image in my mind. For good reason. It's a very tough time to be a bride or groom planning a 2020 wedding right now. You may h...ave picked 2020 because it sounded like such a cool year. We couldn't have known the direction things would go. We don't need to discuss here all of the hurt & frustration this has brought, and likely will continue to cause. You already know. And for my couples, you'll receive an email from me today addressing this. But the reason I woke up this morning thinking of Amy & Tim's last dance at their wedding was this: They cleared the room. They sent every guest outside at the end of the night so that it was just the two of them. Alone. Focused on each other. Eyes on their spouse - not the pomp & circumstance of the day. I posted about this in real time on Instagram Stories when this was happening at their wedding & received the most DMs I've ever gotten. Do you know why? Because at the end of the day, you each know the same thing. This is about YOU TWO. The day is important. The people are important. But the marriage is the MOST important. So if you are a couple who is facing a wedding day reschedule and you're home on your wedding day instead of where you thought you'd be, do me a favor. Clear your living room of furniture & have your first dance. Just the two of you. With or without the rings just yet & maybe even in your pajamas. Focus on what is in front of you. Because you're one of the lucky ones, did you know that? You have family that you care deeply about - so much so that you want to keep them home & healthy. You have friends that adore you - and that you love too much to bring into the public right now. You have the love of a lifetime that people search their WHOLE LIVES FOR & sometimes never find. You will be okay. Close your eyes & dance through it. We'll make it through this, friends. And when your walk down the aisle comes, it will be that much more magical because of it.
