We come together today as a community to ask everyone to join in prayer for so many of our friends, neighbors and our families who are struggling with hardships, loss of loved ones, and for so many dealing with the effects of Covid and life threatening illnesses. We live in such a small wonderful county and we have come together to help each other in so many different ways, whether it has been food banks, clothing giveaways, small Facebook groups making Christmas wonderful f...or the young kids, and just neighbors helping neighbors. We’re coming to you today with a special request today for your prayers for a young local mother, wife, daughter and wonderful person, Amy, who is struggling with pancreatic cancer. She needs our continued prayers and we know that if we all come together and offer up a multitude of prayers that she will be blessed with your love and God’s grace. We’re asking that you can continue these prayers through the end of January and into February, not only for Amy, but her her loving family, and for all of those who may need them at this time. We want to thank all of you who keep coming together and sharing your resources, love and prayers for our extraordinary community. You are the ones that continue to keep us all thankful that we live here. Thanks to all of you.

DEDICATION of the BROWNSVILLE AREA MILITARY HONOR ROLL!! Please come out and honor our local VETERANS & HEROES! ... Saturday, November 14, 2020, 11:00. Location: 6 Market St., Brownsville PA The long awaited dedication ceremony for the new Brownsville Area Military Honor Roll will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 am. The newly constructed veterans' memorial consists of five black marble upright monuments listing the names of 114 local soldiers who were killed in action or missing in action in World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. The center monument is a tribute to all who served in any branch of the military. Four grey marble benches are placed in between the monuments. A memorial brick walkway fronts the five monuments and the flagpole is central in the array of bricks. The memorial bricks are placed in honor of soldiers who served at any time, whether in combat or not. The community has long anticipated the completion of this project that began nearly five years ago by a handful of local veterans and their families. The support shown by the public, businesses, organizations, and officials has been overwhelming and is deeply appreciated. Additional memorial bricks for the walkway will be available to purchase by contacting the committee. Click on the link to send a message.

Beware! Yes! It’s another Friday the 13th and the year is still 2020!!! The most unlucky of all days upon us! Lock yourself in doors with your favorite snacks, watch movies all day, and don’t do anything that could leave your life hanging precariously in the balance. Today being Friday the 13th and it’s still the year 2020 and all, something bad is bound to happen, right? ... Well, if you pay attention to following things not to do today, you’ll be fine. Today is a day for barricading yourself away, wrapping yourself in bubble wrap, and being extra cautious. 7. Brooms-be careful when and where you sweep! In the 14th century, rumours first began to circulate that witches flew through the night skies on household brooms. Ever since, brooms have been regarded as signs of ill omen. If you sweep dust out of your front door after dark, it will bring an unwelcome stranger to visit. 6. Don’t stay on the 13th floor in a hotel! Some hotels don’t even have a 13th floor. 5 No spilling salt! Spilling the salt is like spilling out all your good fortune. In ye olden tymes, salt cost a lot of money. That meant that wasting any of it meant that you were wasting your good fortune and luck. This superstition is still around and thankfully you can combat the bad luck by throwing a pinch of salt over your shoulder. 4 No walking under ladders! Back in the days of yore, walking under a ladder was similar to walking under the gallows. Doing this meant your impending doom. Want a way to combat this misfortune? Cross your fingers till you see a dog! Or just walk back underneath it, saying a prayer as you do so. 3 Don’t break any mirror. Since mirrors have to do with reflections and looking at your own soul, breaking a mirror meant a fracture in your self. Thanks to the Romans and their belief that every cell in your body was replaced in 7 years, that’s how long you have to sit around and wait to break your new found bad luck. Get comfy! Or to break the seven year curse, pick up the broken pieces and throw them into a river flowing south.Good luck with that! 2 Don’t let a black cat cross your path! But if one does cross your path, when you see it, you have to take three steps back. In Germany, meeting a black cat can have two meanings. If the cat passes from right to left, it is not a good sign, but if it passes from your left to the right, it means you will be very lucky in life. 1 Don’t open an umbrella indoors. Opening an umbrella indoors will upset a home's good spirits. These unseen guardians, who are otherwise protective, will cause misfortune to rain upon your family if an umbrella is opened in their presence. But, hey, it IS 2020! So just put a mask on and everything will be A-OK! But, we’re carrying a cross with us today. And some garlic!
