A long way from Lloydsville, on our way to Gettysburg and the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial, in convoy with Margurite (station 33), we came across a rol...l over vehicle accident with confinement. Our combined members were first on scene along with a DCNR officer and immediately sprung into action to mitigate the numerous hazards and injuries. Luckily, Squad 33 was in the convoy and was stocked with medical equipment and extrication tools. Members cribbed the vehicle, made entry into the vehicle and determined critical injuries to the confined occupant then completed the extrication. Medics, EMTs and firefighters from the traveling convoy assessed and treated the patients until Raystown EMS arrived and transported the patients to awaiting helicopters. Thank you to Breezewood VFD, PSP, DCNR, Raystown EMS, and the young female OR nurse who also stopped to assist. This goes to show, with the knowledge and proper training, that even out of the jurisdiction, first responders constantly strive to make a positive impact no matter where in the world they may happen to be!
