With #summer right around the corner, it is important to be mindful of your senior loved one’s liquid intake in order to ensure that they don’t suffer the negative effects of #dehydration. Here are some tips that can help you out: Increase their fluid intake over a period of a week, not all in one day.... Encourage them to sip water before they feel thirsty. Have them drink water throughout the day. Offer a little bit of water at a time so your loved one is not overwhelmed. Include a glass of water at specific times of day, such as first thing in the morning and during meals. Avoid alcohol, and decrease caffeinated beverages due to their diuretic effect. Consider decaf coffee. Frequently offer water to loved ones, especially those who may be physically limited. Have a happy and safe summer! #valleyhomecare #homehealthcare #caregiver #homecare #oldage #dementia #alzheimers #eldercare #seniorcare #caregivers #care #seniorhealth #healthtip See more

Putting up decorations makes any holiday festive and more special. #Valentine’sDay is a great reason to make simple DIY decorations together with your caregiver. Try some of these simple Valentine decoration ideas:... Hearts everywhere cut hearts out of colored paper and stick them up around the house. Faux stained glass window cut hearts out of colored tissue paper and stick them up on a light-filled window. Overlapping them makes beautiful patterns too. Fun chain garland cut pink and red-colored paper into equal-sized strips. Make interlocking rings by pasting or stapling the ends together, then hang them around the house. Have fun! #valleyhomecare #homehealthcare #caregiver #homecare #oldage #dementia #alzheimers #eldercare #health
With #NationalCaregiversDay right around the corner, plan ways to express your appreciation. Taking meal prep off a busy caregiver’s to-do list is a wonderful gift! Load up their freezer with home-cooked meals that can be easily re-heated.... Gift them with a new coffee maker, their favorite coffee, or tea so they can make their favorite beverages at home. Make regular telephone or video calls to the older adult for extended periods of time to give the caregiver a break. Consider gifting them a relaxing heated back and neck massager, a portable heated massage pillow, or a targeted heated neck massager, to help them relax. #valleyhomecare #homehealthcare #caregiver #homecare #oldage #dementia #alzheimers #eldercare #caregiverappreciation
