Venango Fatherhood Initiative

Due to current events and unfortunate situations, the soap box derby is canceled this year. This includes both the derby in oil city on July 11th and the derby in rocky grove on July 25th. We apologize for the inconvenience and thankyou for your understanding.

We are in Need of Help. Fatherhood Initiative is looking for aid in the storage and Transportation of Hay for the 18th annual Soap Box derby. This requires a tractor Trailer box truck capable of moving 300 bales of hay. If we are unable to find support in this area the event will need to be canceled as Hay barriers are essential to the safety of the children participating. Doing things you enjoy is a natural way to relieve stress and find your happy place. When stress makes you feel bad, do something that makes you feel good, eve...n if only for 10 or 15 minutes. Some of these activities may work for you: Make art Work on a scrapbook or photo album to focus on good memories. Read Play with your kids or pets Listen to music or watch an inspiring performance. Take a walk in nature. Take a relaxing bath and feel the stress wash away. Meditate or practice yoga. Work in the garden or do a home improvement project. Go for a run or bike ride The key is to find your groove and make it a practice. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you may start to feel better once you disrupt the cycle of stress.
