Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Art Gallery is temporarily being used as a study hall for students. Most on-campus indoor gathering spaces have been converted into spaces for classes and studying. Apologies for this late notice.. CANCELED opening reception, Beyond the Words: Portraits of Irish Writers, in the Villanova Art Gallery, originally scheduled for today, Friday, March 13, beginning at 5 pm, has been canceled. We are looking to reschedule to a later date.

Visitors will encounter the likenesses of poets Seamus Heaney, Michael Longley; and novelists Colm Toibin and Anne Enright, among many others. As a student of that grand tradition, Phila.-area photographer Robin Hiteshew has made a decades-long project of capturing the images of as many contemporary Irish writers. This exhibit is co-sponsored by Villanova University’s Irish Studies Program. Plan to attend Friday, March 13, the opening reception to meet the artist 5-7pm in the Connelly Center Art Gallery, 2nd flr. VU Prof. Joseph Lennon, PhD, the Emily C. Riley Director of Irish Studies, will present opening remarks.
