Michael D. Filer, Sr. beloved father and grandfather SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Michael D. Mike Filer, Sr., 79, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a long illness. Born on Saturday, May 17, 1941 in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of Donald T. and Ada L. Stoddard Filer. Mike graduated from Trott Vocational High School in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He was employed as a machine operator for Dresse...r-Rand in Olean, N.Y., retiring in 2015. Mike enjoyed raising dairy goats and making goat cheese. He also raised alpacas. He loved to hunt and fish. Mike cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are six children, Diane DeArmond of Niagara Falls, N.Y., Donna (Glenn Perkins) Filer of Oswayo, Michael (Michelle) Filer Jr. of Shinglehouse, Timothy (Janet Beenau) Filer of Sanborn, N.Y., Debra (Arnie) Brown of Horseheads, N.Y., and Tina (Chris) Payne of Shinglehouse; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Jack Filer of Mesina, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by a brother, Donald Filer; and a sister, Lois Filer. In keeping with COVID-19 restrictions, visitation will be held privately for family only at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse. Private graveside burial services will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, with the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church Shinglehouse, officiating. Bob Pratt, 87, formerly of Clara, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, in Bradford Regional Medical Center, Bradford, after a long illness. Born on Saturday, November 11, 1933 in Portville, N.Y., he was a son of Earl O. and Gertrude A. Hay Pratt. On June 29, 1957, in Eldred, he married Patricia J. Patty Nuhfer, who survives. Bob was a 19...53 graduate of Shinglehouse High School and honorably serviced in the US Marine Corps from 1953-1956. He was a life member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530. Rosemary M. Whiteman loving grandmother PORTVILLE, N.Y.---Rosemary M. Whiteman, 70, a longtime resident of Portville, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family and friends on Friday, January 1, 2021, after a long illness. Born on Monday, August 7, 1950 in Port Allegany, Pa., she was a daughter of Leon and Martha Corwin Kilbourn. On July 8, 1983 in Portville, she married Richard Dick Whiteman, from there it was pure bliss. Although the begi...nning of her life had many misfortunes, she and Dick fought their way to a better life. Rosemary prided herself in working hard, especially at the former Hewitt Manor in Shinglehouse, Pa. with her best friend, Cindy Evingham and her babysitting for Olivia Hagen, whom she considered to be a granddaughter. Rosemary was a kind and giving person. She will be remembered for her stubbornness and her un-relentless need to give. She will also be remembered for her constant availability for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There was nothing she loved more than her babies. Surviving in addition to her loving husband are two children, Karen (Jeff) Warner of Portville and Jamie (Alex) Swift of Killeen, Texas; three grandchildren, Nikita (Shawn) Schultz, Bree (Jordan) Reed, and Joshua Swift; her adoring great-grandchildren, Jayden and Harper Schultz, Eevee and Elton Grabinski, and Rosalie and Wesley Reed; a brother, Ronnie (Paula) Kilbourn of Richburg; and a sister, Judy Rhodes. In addition to her parents, Rosemary was predeceased by a sister, Linda Kilbourn. A graveside funeral service celebrating Rosemary’s life will be held in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse, on a date and time to be announced. Llewellyn A. Fourness avid outdoorsman ODIN, Pa.---Llewellyn A. Bub Fourness, 79, of a lifelong resident of Odin, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y., after a brief illness. Born on Wednesday, July 2, 1941 in Coudersport, he was a son of Llewellyn W. and Florence M. Williams Fourness. On May 28, 1976 in the Riverside Methodist Church in Roulette, he married Mary Lou Snyder, who survives. He was a ...graduate of Austin High School. Bub was a US Army veteran having served from 1964 to 1966. He was employed for many years at Pure Carbon in Coudersport. Bub enjoyed hunting, working in his stone quarry, and running his farm and sawmill. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Andreana M. (Ron Clark) Fourness of Port Allegany; a son, Jason R. (Toni) Fourness of Odin; three grandchildren, Erica J. Simms, Marissa S. Simms, and A.J. Simms; a great-granddaughter, Ava R. Moate; a brother, Alvie O. Fourness of Odin; a brother-in-law, Robert Snyder of Cuba, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bub was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Fourness and infant Doyle Fourness; a sister, Dorothy Chandler; a brother-in-law, Melvin Chandler; and a sister-in-law, Julie Snyder. Richard A. Powell a proud Marine and a beloved husband, father, and grandfather SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Richard A. Rich Powell, 90, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Kimberton, passed away on Thursday, December 31, 2020, in the Green Home, Wellsboro, after a long illness. Born on Tuesday, May 20, 1930, in Kenilworth, he was a son of William E. and Marguerite Yetter Powell. On June 22, 1973 in Broomall, he married Miriam M. Mim Oldham, who passed away on... December 31, 2017, three years to the day of Rich’s passing. Rich graduated from NORCO High School in North Coventry Township. He honorably served in the US Marine Corps from 1950 to 1953, where he was a drill instructor and small arms instructor on Paris Island. He was employed as a carpenter for his entire working life. Rich and his wife moved to Shinglehouse in 1977 where together they built their home. He was a member of Shinglehouse American Legion Post 530 where he had served with their honor guard. Rich was an avid hunter, both in archery and gun season. Rich and Mim had organic raised bed gardens. He enjoyed snowmobiling. Surviving are a son, Richard A. Rick Powell of Covington; a daughter, Penny Powell of McEwensville; two step-children, George Larry (Cathy) Miksit of Bristolville, Ohio and Karen M. Gauna of Woods Cross, Utah; four grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Rich was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. In keeping with Rich’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. A celebration of Rich’s and Mim’s lives will be held on date and time to be announced. Flowers are gratefully declined. Lecia M. Renn beloved wife, mother, and grandmother COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Lecia M. Renn, 52, a longtime resident of Coudersport, passed away unexpectedly into the arms of the Lord on Monday, November 30, 2020, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born on Monday, September 9, 1968, in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of William and Sharon LeKites. On June 22, 1991 in the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle, she married Christopher S. Chris Renn, who survives. Lecia was a ...graduate of Lock Haven High School, Class of 1986 and was also a graduate Seneca Highlands Vo-Tech Cosmetology program in Port Allegany. After graduation, she was employed briefly by Robert Joseph in Coudersport. From 1989 until the time of her death, Lecia was employed by Truck-Lite in Coudersport, holding many positions throughout the years, lastly as a technical secretary where she excelled at her work. She also was a former sales associate for Princess Home Crystalware. Lecia was a member of the Coudersport Gospel Tabernacle where she was very active. She was a Sunday school teacher and a teacher in the children’s worship service. She enjoyed decorating the church. She was a former chairman for Relay for Life in Coudersport for several years. She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, reading, and craftingespecially with silk flowers. Lecia loved to worship the Lord and sing his praises. Her greatest love was the Lord and her family. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 29 years; her father of Williamsport; a son, Alexander F. Alex (Stacy) Renn of Jersey Shore; a granddaughter, Ellia Mae Lee Renn; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to her mother, Lecia was predeceased by a sister, Kristie Hamm. Donna J. Siebert beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Donna J. Siebert, 82, of Shinglehouse, passed away peacefully with her loving family members by her side on Saturday, November 28, 2020, in UPMC Cole Skilled Nursing and Rehab, Coudersport, after a long illness. Born on Monday, September 12, 1938 in Chrystal, she was a daughter of Frank L. and Mary F. Myrick Carr. She was married to the late Thomas G. Louser of Alle...gany, N.Y. and the late Kenneth P. Siebert of Shinglehouse. Donna was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1956, Shinglehouse. Donna was a hard worker. In her early working years, she was first employed as a secretary at FC Thomas in Olean, N.Y. and was them employed at the former Acme Electric in Allegany, N.Y. She was well known and best remembered from many years of waitressing in many area establishments including the former Gert’s Kitchen, the former Wheelie’s Restaurant, the former Carlow’s Restaurant, the former Trimble’s Restaurant, and the Roadside, all in Shinglehouse. She lastly worked at Dave’s Diner in Ceres, N.Y. until retiring at the age of 76. Donna enjoyed reading, baking, and hosting many of her family’s holiday meals. Left to cherish her memory are five children, Brian L. (Lisa) Louser, Thomas F. (Lori) Louser, and Frances M. (Glenn) Drake, all of Shinglehouse, John H. (Becky) Louser of Olean, N.Y., and Shanna E. (Duane) Cunningham of Shinglehouse; twenty-four grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas M. Carr of Shinglehouse; two sisters, Annette E. Perkins of Olean, N.Y. and Ruth E. Spader of Lancaster; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by two sons, infant Frederick P. Siebert and Donald A. Louser; a sister, Linda K. Dennis Lee Pierce beloved father and grandfather SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Dennis Lee Denny Pierce, 72, of Shinglehouse and a former resident of Coudersport, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, in the Bradford Manor, Bradford, after a long illness. Born on Thursday, February 12, 1948, in Wellsville, N.Y., he was a son of Ronald and Gertrude Stilson Pierce. Denny was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. He was employed by t...he former West Brothers in Millport and was employed as an equipment operator at Dale’s Welding Service in Millport which later became Tru-Gas which was owned by his brother Dale. He also had his own contracting/construction business specializing in carpentry and masonry. Denny loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening, He always loved a good yard sale and being with his family. He was a faithful man and loved praising the Lord. Surviving are three children, Kenneth M. (Linda) Pierce of Shinglehouse, Tashine M. (Josh) Groeger of Emporium, and 1 LT Brent A. Pierce of Shinglehouse; two grandchildren, Makayla Groeger and Andrew Groeger; a step-granddaughter, Kelly Bridge Norton; a step-grandson, Freeman Bridge; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Stone of Clara and Patricia (Don) Hyde of Eleven Mile; a brother, Richard (Lucinda) Pierce of Cuba, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Jackie Pierce of Pittsfield; his lifetime best friend and godparent to his children, Don (Anne) Metzger of Erie; his former wife and mother of his children, Debbie Dunshie Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
