Hi Walnut Studio 5 folks! - Mark B. Knight here. Over the years, I've been in quite a few shows at Walnut Street Theatre, Studio 5 & I love being there. You might have seen me in the Philadelphia PlayShop festivals (Phil PlayShop), The Idiopathic Ridiculopathy Consortium, Irish Heritage Theatre or Isis Productions. So many shows, so much fun! This year I'll be teaching an evening course at The University of the Arts. The 2018 Spring Info Session is Wednesday, Jan 10th, 6pm, a...t Terra Hall, 211 S. Broad St. Room 901. I'll be there answering questions about my new course. You get 10% off just for attending *and* u get me being all British & theatrically over-the-top. And I'll be popping into Dirty Franks bar after, for a pint. Hope to see you there! https://goo.gl/FRBZja

The critics love it! Get to Walnut St Theatre Studio 5 for Barrymore-eligible BY THE BOG OF CATS, Irish Heritage Theatre's latest show! https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3062567 THE INQUIRER says...... * "tragicomic weirdness" * "Imposing landowner Xavier (Ethan Lipkin) seethes with repressed perversity." * "Carthage’s mother (Mary Pat Walsh)... comically self-absorbed" * "Spooky Cat Woman (Tina Brock), a blind soothsayer, delivers spellbinding oracular pronouncements" * "a world full of colorful villagers, witches, and ghosts who live on the shores of a mysterious bog." WHYY's SHAPIRO ON THEATER says... * "Kirsten Quinn’s lead performance stands out through the show. Quinn plays, with a deep understanding of her character." * "..her daughter (Josie Swayne)... middle-schooler Keri Doheny, in an excellent performance." * "..fine lyrical writing and flashes of brilliance (the) wedding dinner scene is pathetic, funny and memorable, and Mecham directs it with a flourish." * "It’s... fortunate that we have Irish Heritage Theatre, a small but bold company, staging what is arguably her most popular play in Ireland." --- BROAD STREET REVIEW's MARK COFTA says... * "Quinn’s and Lipkin’s... animosity is primal." * "Mary Pat Walsh excels as Josie’s monstrous grandmother; 'I’ll break your spirit,' she tells the innocent child, 'and glue you back together the way I want.'" * "IHT’s production successfully reveals the characters with raw sincerity." * "Quinn makes Hester...feared and reviled, a wild-eyed feral creature, fiercely proud yet desperate." * "Jenna Kuerzi’s Caroline is a study in befuddled sorrow, a motherless waif bullied by her father." * "Brock and Knight fully express their characters’ eeriness." * "Zack McKenna’s sound design... with its plucking violin underscoring." ---

Well, it's been one week since we set our goal of raising $1,000 through our new partner Fractured Atlas. I'm please to say that we're up over 10% of that goal! Not a bad start and I know it will only grow quickly. I must have faith. Here's the link, again. The faster we reach that goal, the sooner we can apply for grants available only to 501(c)(3) entities. THANKS!!!... https://www.fracturedatlas.org/site/fiscal/profile?id=14988
