They’re out of boxes! No pricing yet but I’m getting there. To the printer this week. The next issue of News&Notes should be mailed by the end of February. Summer’s coming! (And I got a catalog for wreath supplies in the mail on Monday. Geez!)

As we honor those who died at Pearl Harbor, here is a reminder of the courage and sacrifice so many exhibited that dreadful day. All flags fly at half staff tomorrow as we thank God for His continued blessing and mercy on our nation. To all who serve, we humbly thank you and your families. It doesn’t matter when or where you were stationed, it takes all of us to protect each of us.

Very sad that those who sacrifice so much to protect us deal with such suffering. We’ve met several of you through our 9/11 services and know some as friends. Copied from a Vietnam veterans post ... PTSD, who has my Six?... I'm going to bet, without being too pessimistic, that out of my several hundred friends less than 25 will take the time to put this on their timeline today. You just have to copy it from mine and paste it to yours. I've done this with my friends to spread 'Awareness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.' We lose 22 Veterans, including Police Officers and other First Responders, a day to PTSD. More needs to be done to help those in need. Who's with me???

A gentle reminder of who we are. The UNITED States of America, INDIVISIBLE. ONE nation under God.

I didn't know this about 9-11 and I’m plagiarizing someone’s telling of this tale, but it needs to be shared. There are so many amazing stories of valor and sacrifice on that day and those following. Reminders that we are one nation, indivisible. AFTER FLIGHT 77 hit the Pentagon on 9/11, the following incident occurred: A chaplain, who happened to be assigned to the Pentagon, told of an incident that never made the news. A daycare facility inside the Pentagon had many child...ren, including infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do. There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants that would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers. Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, "Well, here we are, on our own." About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow. Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac. Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing - they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off. Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children. The chaplain then said, "I don't think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon. It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women, who have served and are currently serving our country, and pray for those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for freedom.

September 11 the day we honor the heroes, firefighters and officers who raced to help ... and to their deaths. How did we get from there to this? So sad. Our hearts hurt for his family.

We can’t have a public ceremony today, although the events of September 11.2001 are in our thoughts. We do, however, want to recognize the deaths of our county first responders since the service last year.

Never forget. Pray for our nation. Pray for those families whose lives were ripped apart that day. Nineteen years. A lifetime for some. A moment in time. Two hours. Destruction. Death. Recovery. Healing. ... Today of all days, let us unite as Americans all and pray for peace. See more
