FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 24, 2020 Pennsylvania State Police Announces Child Exploitation Arrests ... as Part of Ongoing Internet Crimes Investigations Thank you to the hard working detectives of the Wayne County District Attorney's Office for your collaboration with Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) and agents and officers from the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office, Hazleton City Police Department, and West Hazleton Borough Police Department as part of ongoing ICAC Task Force investigations. The PSP Computer Crimes Task Force, working with these partner law enforcement agencies in the Pennsylvania Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force lead to the recent arrests of four men during a proactive operation targeting online offenders seeking sexual encounters with juveniles. Between September 17-19, 2020, during this operation, four men allegedly used various social media platforms to contact undercover investigators posing online as underage boys and girls. These men allegedly sought to meet for sexual encounters and appeared at pre-arranged locations, where they were met by undercover officers and taken into custody. The arrests announced today exemplify the commitment of all levels of law enforcement to keep Pennsylvania’s children safe, said Captain Leo Hannon, director of the Special Investigations Division of the PSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The exploitation of children online reaches across jurisdictional boundaries, and fighting these serious crimes calls for the kind of collaboration exemplified by the ICAC Task Force.
