West Point Firehall 12.11.2020

Today we had a break in at West Point VFD. Our detached garage where we keep our antique fire truck Ol’ Betsy was vandalized. They broke out glass block window with bricks to enter the building and left the building unlocked to come back in the middle of the night to hang out until early morning. Thankfully the fire truck was not damaged, but there is a lot of damage to be fixed and cleaning up to do. We have a police report filed with PSP and also the 3 boys on camera. We ar...e asking that if you know anything to please contact us or PSP Greensburg. If you are the parent or the child/teenager and want to turn yourself in we won’t press charges if you contact us. We do expect them to still pay for the damage and help clean the mess up they made. We definitely didn’t expect this from our neighbors, especially kids. Make it a fall back tradition! Change your clocks + change your alarm batteries this weekend. Working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors save lives. M...ore tips: Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home. A smoke alarm should be on the ceiling or high on a wall. Test all smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button. It is best to use interconnected smoke alarms. When one smoke alarm sounds, they all sound. People who are hard-of-hearing or deaf can use alarms with strobe lights and bed shakers. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3mIscq5. #BeFireSafePA

Just a friendly reminder that if our paper recycling bins are full please don’t leave paper outside the bins. We understand it’s frustrating they are always full, but we have paper all over the parking lot as soon as the wind picks up. Also, we don’t own the paper recycle bins. We have called the company multiple times to come dump them when they are full. Thank you

Hey folks! A lot of bingo fans have reached out about when bingo is starting back up, and we thank you for reaching out! At this time, we are unsure when bingo... will start back up. Due to corona virus, players may not show up and due to this, we do not want to lose money if we have a limited number. It is currently a discussion among our house committee and we will let you know when we find out anything. Thank you! Greensburg Hose Company 7 Bingo Staff

Fireworks laws have changed in Pennsylvania. House Bill 542 was signed into law on October 30, 2017. Under the new law, the Fireworks Act of 1939 was repealed ...and replaced in its entirety. The complete version of the new law can be viewed here. However, the questions and answers below highlight the most noteworthy changes. * They cannot be ignited or discharged on a public or private property without express permission of the property owner. * They cannot be discharged from or within a motor vehicle or building. * They cannot be discharged toward a motor vehicle or building. * They cannot be discharged within 150 feet of an occupied structure. They cannot be discharged while the person is under the influence of alcohol, a controlled substance, or another drug. Troopers from the Greensburg Barracks enforce this law where and when appropriate and if you need to report a violation they can be reached at 724-832-3288. If you call the station with a fireworks complaint, please keep in mind the above guidelines, also, please have information about who/what/where. We ask all residents of the township to be mindful of their neighbors and neighborhood If they are setting off fireworks.
