POOL UPDATE: Hey folks I just wanted to give everyone an update on our pool. Last week sometime we had a major incident where the rain water got under the already set pool and floated it almost up out of the hole. This was due to a few factors that were largely out of our control. Only being able to partially backfill and fill with water were part of this issues as we were waiting on an out of state pool company and the township. We successfully drained the water out fro...m underneath the pool but too much of the backfill washed under it and we found ourselves in BIG trouble with the new voids under it. Out of resources and the technical expertise to fix this we turned to our Dive community and pleaded for help. Instructor Steve Burkholder put us in touch with one of our fellow divers and owner of Goodall pools. I met with Bob Goodall (a fellow diver certified by this organization) and he graciously agreed to rally his A team of workers, engineers, excavators and connections with a 2 day notice and we together reset the pool. This took an enormous all day effort with big machinery and many workers. The speed at which they worked and the attention to detail were truly amazing! This was all done for just the cost of materials! This truly embodies the spirit of the local dive community that we have built. A time lapse video is being put together by DM Ross Sackler to show everyone a condensed more manageable version of how this was achieved. Onsite were Randy Meinke, John C. Lund, Ron Willis, Joshua Gosik, Rick Harkins, Ross Sackler and Brian Smith. Thanks to all our spouses for enduring thru this with us and a huge thank you to Goodall Pools & Spas, X-Cavation LLC and Davis Water! This will not be forgotten nor will the strength and compassion of this community. Thanks to all involved we are back on track and have taken additional measures to ensure that the issues we faced do not happen again and with a bit of good weather we expect this pool to be in use by mid January...Fingers crossed! #Goodallpools #X-cavation #daviswater #DiveCommunity #resilience #padidiver #westshorescuba See more

Whale hello there! Russian diver Koshovenko Danil encountered a ‘whalecoming’ sight while swimming in the sea of Japan off the coast of Vladivostok. A happy-loo...king beluga whale approached Danil and even let him pat its head. One possible explanation for such unusual behavior could be that the animal had previous close contact with human beings in the ‘whale prison’ located in Russia's Far East, from which 50 whales were released back into the sea last year.

Well, another successful IDC (Instructor Development Course) for 2020 has just finished at West Shore Scuba. Congratulations to Lori Leedy and Alex Wright for the successful completion of the IDC itself and passing the PADI Instructor Examination.
