NOBODY'S GOING HOME HUNGRY!

Wildcat Park 08.06.2021

Five young men from Abraxas spent an entire day working at the park yesterday. I just want to say... What a breath of fresh air! Six straight hours of working on the grounds and not a single complaint. Well... except for being typical teenage boys who are hungry an hour after eating, lol. They were all very polite and respectful. I haven’t been called miss so many times in one day. I didn’t think to take photos until the end of the day, so what you can’t see is the firs...t couple hours of picking up rocks in the new parking area and loading giant boulders into the trailer to be moved. I noticed an injury on one fella’s finger from moving rocks and the mom in me cringed, wanting to get it all bandaged up. He says oh that’s nothing a little duct tape can’t fix! He let his counselor tend to it with a bandaid, but he was back to work like nothing happened. We worked all day raking, shoveling, leaf blowing and cleaning up branches. We stood back and admired our progress at the end of the day and what a sense of pride! When the time came to pack up and call it a day, they were already talking about our next work day. So THANK YOU GUYS for all your hard work and for reminding us that all the obstacles we face in life are here to help us grow. Awesome day guys!

ATTENTION: The "Wizard of Oz" HAUNTED TRAIL has been cancelled for October 31st. Many of the student volunteers who participated in the first two weekends of this event are also involved in the "Haunted Path" event that is being held at the Kane Area High School. The students were a huge help in making our event at the park a success and we'd like to return the favor by supporting their upcoming event, hosted by SADD of Kane. So if you are planning to be in the area this S...aturday, Oct. 31st....please stop by the Kane High School and check out their HAUNTED PATH! They have tours scheduled from 1-3pm (for younger kids) and another (scarier version) from 7-10pm. The event starts at the school entrance and the fee is $7/person. We'd like to THANK EVERYONE for attending the Haunted Trail our first two weekends and look forward to doing it again next year!

Wildcat Park 16.11.2020

Volunteers spent the day at the park decorating and preparing for Santa’s upcoming visit. There is no fee to attend, but children (12 and under) must be pre-registered by December 1st to participate in the event. More information can be found on their event page (in the comments). Anyone who would like to assist with decorating, baking, or volunteering in any way for this event, please contact Todd or Shannon Johnson.

Wildcat Park 27.10.2020

Hey everyone, we are putting away our fall decorations and preparing for winter. If you decorated a scarecrow and would like to retrieve it, please do so in the next couple of days, otherwise we will gather them up and save the fixins for next year. Message the page if you’d like to make other arrangements. Thanks to everyone who participated! We look forward to doing it again next year!

Volunteers came together Monday night to tackle another project at the park. The storage shed located near the horseshoe pit was returned to it's original design as an outdoor pavilion. Don and Helen Bell donated the funds to construct the original pavilion, in honor of First Responders, but it was later renovated into a storage shed. With increased use of the horseshoe pits this summer, it became clear that the structure would serve a much better purpose as a pavilion. The crew carefully disassembled the walls to the shed, so that each board could be used on future projects, including shelving in the existing storage shed near the garage. Two picnic tables were moved to the pavilion to complete the project. A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated in Monday's Work Bee! Much appreciated!

The Ludlow Community Association made the decision to open Wildcat Park to pavilion rentals and events at their monthly meeting Tuesday night. We felt as a board that it was in the best interest of the park to open under CDC guidance of no more than 250 people at each rental. As we go forth on the 2020 season, much of our income has been lost due to Covid 19, and we need to explore all angles to cut the budget. Therefore the decision was made not to turn on the water in the p...ark . We suggest that patrons bring in bottled water and hand sanitizer. There are a lot of renovations going on also, so bear with us, as we try to make improvements to the tennis courts, the ball field and surrounding area, the slate tables, and a trail we hope to make go around the perimeter of the park. We want to thank Barry Johnson for his contributions to the tennis courts and RWF construction for the use of their equipment and time. Memberships will be available at different locations throughout Wildcat Park and donation stations will eventually be installed. Anyone desiring information or suggestions may be made to the board members Pauline Bauer Todd Kasaback Conni Smith Pam Johnson Bill Blauser Tim Garity TBD For reservations please call (814) 945-6373 Thank you See more

Public Notice Tonight the Board Members of Wildcat park have had to make some decisions that unfortunately are out of anyone’s control. The board, with great regret, has made the decision to suspend ALL rentals and ALL events for the park during the 2020 season. We have been in contact with several parks, state representatives, local officials and many other individuals, and regret to inform everyone of this decision. We have decided from the Memorial Day holiday through t...he Labor Day holiday, the gates to the park will remain open for individuals to drive through, providing those individuals are respectful and remove their own trash. There are picnic tables available for family picnics. Fishing is also available. The play grounds will remain closed until the bans are lifted on playgrounds. Also the restrooms and water will be unavailable. Unfortunately for parks the Gov, state, and CDC have made it a very hard year on parks. Several parks have to, or may have already made the same decision to close for the 2020 Season. We ask that everyone please be respectful of this as it has been a very difficult decision to make. If you do go through the park or take a walk through the park please follow all state, federal and CDC guidelines on social distancing, ect. There will be an article in the local paper in the next few days with more information that will provide further details for individuals to refer to. For individuals who have rented the facilities within the park or have Cash Bash Tickets, you will be contacted by a board member for refunds and/or rescheduling those events/rentals for the 2021 Season. Sincerely, Craig Oakes Wildcat Park President
