One of your employees asked us if we could share a story about an interaction that she had at a truck stop, so here it is: I was picking up a family member from work and stopped at the truck stop in Milton for gas on the way home. As we pulled in for gas, I seen that there were not too many parking spots open for drivers to park. It about broke my heart. We pulled up to the pump and I went inside to pay then came out and realized I forgot drinks, so I went back in for the dri...nks. As I walked back in, I noticed two drivers trying to order from Subway. I quietly watched their interaction with the employee. They were all having a hard time understanding each other due to having to wear a mask. Before walking by to get my drinks, I just knew I had to say something. I turned and said two simple words, thank you. They looked confused and said, thank you for what mam? I then explained. Thank you for driving. I know and understand that it is hard for you guys to get a hot meal on the road and now to have a hard time ordering and everything. Thank you for leaving your family at home so I can go to the store. Thank you for being truck drivers I know and understand how hard it is for drivers. They said thank you, we shook hands. It broke my heart when the responded by saying, finally someone that understands our struggle, thank you for noticing. We want all our drivers here at William A. Spencer Jr. Trucking to know that we understand the struggles they go through all week. There are not enough words to describe our thanks. So, we will use these two words to start, thank you.
