The 1714 Barns-Brinton House with fresh snow Beautiful history!

It has come to our attention that our local history is in danger of being impacted where the 1704 Brinton House stands on Oakland Road in Chadds Ford. The Mercedes dealership, currently located in West Chester on route 202, is looking to build on the grounds that back up to this historical site, which will greatly compromise the view of the 1704 Brinton House. As part of the Battle of the Brandywine, it's where the very heavy fighting occurred as Washington's troops retreated... towards Chester. It was critical to fight while you retreated to avoid the enemy catching up to you and causing a surrender. Washington avoided a surrender, and a short end to the war, by mounting a successful retreat and preserved the army to fight another day. That day was supposed to be what we now call the "Battle of the Clouds" 5 days later in Malvern but the battle was called off due to a bad storm that washed them out.
