Have you ever had a juneberry? They’re ripening - because it’s June! Thanks to one of our members, who pointed out this tree in our garden last summer, we’ve started harvesting the fruit. Juneberry trees are a native species, and their fruit makes great jams and pies They also provide an important source of food for birds. Look for the berries at our produce stand this month, or stop by the garden and enjoy picking your own.
Everyone knows to stop and smell the roses... but you should really stop and smell our lavender garden! It’s in full bloom and smells divine on your stroll down 5th Street! While you’re there, take a peek in our courtyard at part of our growing pollinator garden. More pictures to come!
The garden is in need of a bit of weeding Anyone wanting to participate in this beloved activity is welcome to join in after worship this Sunday We also will have our first produce of the season! All are welcome!
Happy to be including some of these species in our growing pollinator garden
We’re looking at a 50/50 chance of rain and cool temperatures tomorrow morning. Anyone interested in volunteering to help us plant our wildflower meadow and pollinator garden are still very welcome to join us after worship if the weather allows. If not, let us know you’re interested and the work will commence throughout the week and into next weekend. We’re looking forward to enhancing our small part of Sunbury for even the smallest of God’s creatures!
We are pleased to announce that Zion has adopted online giving as a way to support our church's ministries. With in-person worship once again suspended, we hope... that this option will allow more people to support our mission in Sunbury and beyond. Online giving is easy! On our website simply navigate to "Online Giving." On Facebook, we will include in our weekly worship service post this secure direct link https://tithe.ly/give?c=2855279 which will guide you to the same donation portal. Donations are welcome in any amount and can be made reoccurring. Thank you for your support, especially in these uncertain times, as we continue to love and serve our neighbors.
ELCA World Hunger is one of the organizations supported. Consider giving a gift that helps us work toward a world in which all are fed
Did you know some bees and butterflies can live under leaf cover throughout the winter? Fallen leaves also absorb rain and release moisture back into soil and plants as they decompose. Leave some leaves, your yard will love you for it! Learn more https://bit.ly/3f7Lr9O
