Are you tired of 2020 and wish it were over? Don't be so hasty. We have another 20 to brighten up October. It's the annual end-of-season sale at the Dorflinger Glass Museum - Dorflinger Wildlife Sanctuary's Gift Shop. Almost everything is on sale at a 20% discount (with the exception of books, Dorflinger Diamonds, Christopher Ries sculptures and previously discounted merchandise). The Museum Gift Shop is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm and Sundays from 1 to 4 pm.
It's great to see that our friends at the Everhart Museum of Natural History, Science & Art are reopening the museum this week! The Everhart Museum had the first major collection of Dorflinger glass beginning in the 1960s.
How did we miss this when it came out?
National Dog Day with just a few of the dog related gift items for sale in the museum gift shop. Doggie makes a great door stop. He comes from the Gillinder Glass Store and was made by Gillinder Glass in Port Jervis, NY.
This is brilliant!
A beautiful short film on the making of an even more beautiful piece of crystal stemware. From the Saint-Louis Crystal factory.
They still make some of the world's finest cut crystal at Saint-Louis Crystal.
Some of our Museum Volunteers were raving about how much they enjoyed the classes they are taking The Art Factory of White Mills.
Happy Fourth of July 2020! The Dorflinger Glass Museum is open this weekend Saturday from 10-4 and Sunday from 1-4 pm. We are now open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10-4 and Sundays 1-4 pm. Please note that the public restrooms are closed. Masks will be required for entry and temperature checks will be made. If you guess your exact temperature, you get free admission to the museum. The punch cup in the foreground was made at Dorflinger's Greenpoint Flint Glass Works in 18...61 for President and Mrs. Lincoln. The Dorflinger Glass Company in White Mills made the bottle for sale as a souvenir for the Centennial Exhibition in Philadelphia in 1876. The wine glass to the right was part of a set made for the exhibition. It is engraved with the State Seal of Missouri. The flag was found last week on Main Street, Honesdale and rescued with only a minor interruption to traffic. No treading on this flag. See more
Does anyone have a few pieces of lawn/patio furniture in good condition that they would be willing to donate?
What a great way to promote the #Poconos! Thanks Jim Hamill and Ab Rutherford.
Next time you get to Brooklyn, stop by The Green-Wood Cemetery and say hello. I promise to keep the proper 6 feet of social distance. - Christian Dorflinger
