Station 200 Rehab 05.02.2021

As we reach the anniversary of the last call for William "Spence" Marks, not only did we lose a great friend and brother firefighter, we also injured six other ...firefighters that are still recovering today. We ask that you not only take a moment to pause and reflect on the life of Bill but also on the other six members involved.

Just before 6:00pm on Friday, July 24th the station was alerted for a water rescue at the fishing hole (Rt 837 and Lebanon School Rd). West Mifflin PD on scene... updated Allegheny County 911 that witnesses reported a (14) year old female that had gone under the water and did not resurface. Crews from #3, 296, and Dravosburg Station 131 were on scene quickly and additional water resources were requested from McKeesport Fire Department, Glassport Station 161, Elizabeth Boro Station 139, and Baldwin EMS Station 510 as well as dive teams from Monroeville, Murraysville, and North Huntington. As the search continued, additional resources were requested from Allegheny County Emergency Services, the Coast Guard, Army Corp of Engineers, and Pennsylvania State Police. Almost 100 personnel were on scene within an hour of dispatch and a wide variety of techniques were used including multiple sonar devices, underwater cameras, aerial drones, and a helicopter. Unfortunately the search had to be called off late in the evening for the safety of everyone involved. The search resumed the next morning with crews from the previous evening and additional resources from Pittsburgh River Rescue, Greensburg, Scottsdale, Charleroi, Donora, and Collinsburg. Just before 2:00pm, a body was located in the water and was positively identified as the missing female. First and foremost, we would like to extend our condolences to the family on the tragic loss of their child. Out of respect for their privacy, we will not be releasing any more information regarding the incident. We would like to thank all of the agencies, dispatchers, and responders involved for the quick and professional response to the incident.
