It's the time of year to keep an eye out for Common Loons that get stranded in wet parking lots. From above, a black, wet parking lot looks a lot like a body of water. Loons are diving birds with their legs located near the rear of their bodies. This is great for swimming and diving, but not so much for walking on land. They are unable to take flight from land and need to be placed back in water to survive. If you find one, please call the clinic for detailed instructions on how to help 215-249-1938. #aarkwildlifeandrehabcenter #aark #helpushelpwildlife #loon #6abc #SGN

What may look like a price tag on this Monarch Butterfly is actually part of the Monarch Watch Tagging Program. According to their website "The Monarch Watch Tagging Program is a large-scale citizen science project that was initiated in 1992 to help understand the dynamics of the monarch's spectacular fall migration through mark and recapture." You can learn more about the program at www.monarchwatch.org #aarkwildlife #helpushelpwildlife #wildlife #cuteness #animalpictures #6abc #babyanimals #animallove #dailydiversion #SGN #monarchbutterfly

Thank you Shops at Valley Square for including Aark Wildlife as one of the five possible charity recipients. If you are in the area, stop by and snap a photo and have a chance to name the spider!

One of the female Eastern Box Turtles in our care last spring laid eggs!! We were able to successfully incubate them and watch as they emerged from their shells. Eastern Box Turtles are a vulnerable species here in Pennsylvania. Their numbers are continuously dropping due to habitat loss, unwarranted human intervention, and global climate change. Each individual turtle is a valuable member of a delicate species. Once they get a little older, we will be able to release these cuties back into the wild where their average life span is 40 to 50 years. There have been many reports of Box Turtles living into their 100’s. Let’s hope these little ones live a long and happy life. #aarkwildlife #helpushelpwildlife #wildlife #cuteness #animalpictures #6abc #babyanimals #animallove #dailydiversion #SGN #turtle #turtlelove
