http://www.espn.com//gambling-vegas-bookmakers-growing-con The ripple-down effects from this decision, should the Supreme Court rule in favor of state's rights (as they should IMO) could have an enormous impact on virtually the entire nation..

https://www.huffingtonpost.com//larry-nassar-usoc-olympics Interesting article. I don't agree with a ban, as punishing the athletes doesn't make any sense, but there are many, many people who need to be held accountable for this.

On the fifth amendment, you should either watch this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERm_WNxGs1U or read this real quick when you get a chance: We all think of being down at the station in an interrogation room as the place where most confessions take place, but we must be aware that anything we say AT ANY stage of police contact can generally be used against us in a prosecution. ... "Miranda warnings," ie police telling you that you can remain silent and that YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TALK TO THEM, are only required to be given when you are already functionally under arrest and questioning then follows, but a large percentage of police interaction/questioning comes PRIOR to a person being arrested, hence they can ask you questions without first reading you your rights (for example, I see skilled officers extract Miranda-less confessions over the phone on a regular basis). These Miranda-less/incriminating statements are oftentimes the only way the government is able to successfully prosecute their case. Anytime that you are the subject of any type of police/government agent investigation (not, say, if you're being asked about harboring a fugitive in your home), your right to remain silent from incriminating yourself kicks in (though under many circumstances you must provide your name/ID). The next time you're subject to a traffic stop and an officer first asks if you know why he pulled you over, you know what to do.

Even if you have nothing to hide, never just allow/consent/say "go ahead" to the police if/when they ask to search your home/body/car without a search warrant signed by a judge/magistrate. Make sure to be respectful and as calm as possible throughout, but always demand that they obtain a warrant if they want to perform a search. Trust me, if they feel they have adequate cause to execute a search, they will do so regardless of whether you voluntarily permit them to. ***However, If you simply allow them to search when they haven't yet obtained a warrant, you may be WAIVING any argument you may have otherwise had to suppress the evidence from a criminal case (suppression is when the judge throws out illegally-obtained evidence from being used in a prosecution/trial against a defendant).
