Spirit Week: Day 5 - Sports Day. We closed out our week with showing off our athletic skills!!

What boosts your little one’s memory and brainpower like nothing else? POETRY Nursery rhymes and songs, especially! ... Rhyming teaches children how language works. It helps them notice and work with the sounds within words. - When they are familiar with a nursery rhyme or rhyming book... ...they learn to the rhyming word. This prepares them to make predictions when they read: a critical reading skill. Which is why their memory also gets a boost! Plus, when listening to rhyming songs and poems, children create a mental picture, expand their imagination, and think creatively. And really, for us adults who get to read, sing, and rhyme along it’s so much fun. Poetry is an easy way we add light-heartedness and joy to the (sometimes) daunting task of learning to read.
